Evil must be exterminated if it is unwilling to change. I did meet a rat this morning that must have been starving with a thousand beats per minute heartbeat and felt mercy for its life.

Not drinking alcohol is an odd adventure.

I still like to go out, dance, meet and hook up with random women. Its easier when you're drinking. But when you're the only sober person at a bar, you see how gross that scene is and people treat you differently if you're not drinking. Like 'wtf is wrong with you?' How come your not drinking?'

A polite 'I just don't like to' or 'Alcohol doesn't mix well with me.' Doesn't satisfy anyone who's drunk. The response is usually "Come onnnnnn.  Let me buy you a drink, lighten up. I got it. What do you want?'

Nothing, Im good. Im not drinking tonight. Is not ever reallywell recieved.  You're looked at like a buzz kill.

Tbh, one of the reasons my marriage is over is probably because I tapered off and for the most part abstain from alcohol. While my ex-wife drinks every day. Many days she'd just be hammered for no reason at all and pass out in random places around the house. This led to multiple arguments for many reasons, not the least of which was finances.

Anyway, long story short, there's a time and a place for a night out and having a few drinks (a few times a year, a birthday, the holidays, when you're on vacation) For most people who do drink, that time is now and the place is anywhere. For most people,  just getting off work is a good reason, then it just being the weekend is a good reason. Then before you know it, its everyday.

Very true. It upsets a lot of people. Luckily my family inlaw is mostly Jehova Witnesses so quitting drinking has been very well received on their end.

I heard that after you quit for a long time and try again, it's often  a bad experience.

Its a really inconsistent experience.

Ive experienced that very same thing, I haven't drank in a long time, 7 months or longer. And Ill say to myself 'why not?' Have one. I'll have 1 drink, it goes right to my head, in a bad way. I end up with a headache similar to a hangover. After just one drink, not even getting a buzz and without going to sleep or anything.  Just a drink then a hangover about 25 minutes later.

Other times alcohol would pick me up so much. Like its a stimulant. It reminds me of the Billy Joel song "Big Shot" its so accurate.

And other times Id fall asleep after a couple of beers. Not drunk, just heavy and tired.

Yeah, when you take long breaks after stopping alcohol, you never quite know how it will affect you.

Haven't drank a drop in years. Really miss it a lot, but I decided against it for health reasons

I went five months as my longest stint and I was the exact opposite and had no issue with hangover or anything. I’ve done a few stints of one or two months and it was the same no issue in alcohol tolerance.
