This is a different situation than the 21-foot timing which I am familiar with.
It  does not affect his right to have his gun in play to protect himself and fellow officers.
He definitely put himself in harms way.
Good gave no indication of being armed.

I saved the slow mo version of it. Unfortunately this POS squirrel ran platform won’t allow me to post from my camera roll but I just watched it again…twice. He clearly drew as she put the front wheel drive vehicle into to drive. Again, the 21ft rule was used as a comparison when you have approximately 1-1.2sec to draw, present and fire. The ICE agent had less time to make that decision.

There is no time to second guess in an imminent threat situation and there was no target identification, he knew exactly who and what the threat was. It was a one handed point shoot, a fairly difficult shot when under stress with two follow up shots.

Quite common for officers to draw their weapon when dealing with people that refuse to comply. Especially while they are in a vehicle. He did not put himself in harms way, she did when she backed up and turned her wheels towards him.

You and I agree. Imminent threat use deadly force. We also agree on best tactics being try to avoid imminent threats if possible via thinking ahead and not getting within that 21 feet. Sometimes it can’t be avoided. Sometimes you have to shoot with no cover, but shoot from cover if you can.
