I like those monolifts although it is now much easier to set records. Fred Hatfield had to lift the weight, step back, lift, walk it back in and rack it. Much easier now but safer.

Maybe hard to calculate how much a lifter might lose by setting up conventionally? I've seen how much of a bitch it is setting up maxes and some have a harder time doing it. Might have been harder when powerlifting was mostly equipped also. You might also argue with the same logic that lifters shouldn't be assisted when re-racking, which they always did as far as I know :D Command to rack, then the spotters touch the lifter/bar. Always hated spotting squats.
