The Masters of the Universe film was a classic. There was no reason to reboot it. They couldn’t just leave well enough alone.
The original was a steaming pile of turds, beyond belief. Even at 6 years old, I hated it and I had the standards of someone who spent hours watching postman pat drive around deliver mail and watching trains talk to each other.
It has not matured, as I have aged, either. And this is coming from someone who frequently watches cinematic cheese and loves it. It's fucking awful and not even fucking awful in a charming way.
Back to the present day, I saw the new one last weekend. Trailers are absolute trash and imply a seriousness that just isn't actually present but the actual movie was just a complete pisstake and quite okay at that. I think a few people were a bit bent out of shape by the realisation that Skeletor is a 90% comedian, 10% villain, but that's actually how the cartoon depiction was, they just don't remember.
Did He-Man at any point yell “By the power of Gray-Skull!”??
Of course
