The back story
This incident occurred on Jan 21, 2026, in Ohio. Suspect John Johnson, 57, robbed a Brinks truck at gunpoint in Elyria, then led police on a chase. He crashed in North Olmsted, forced a family into their home as hostages. Elyria PD officers confronted him; he pointed a gun, and they fatally shot him. Family unharmed. Under investigation by Ohio BCI.
