Oregon has vote by mail exclusively. To vote in Oregon, you must meet Oregon voter registration ID requirements
when registering to vote:

You must provide your driver’s license number or state ID card number if you have one.
If you do not have either of these IDs, you can use the last 4 digits of your Social Security number (SSN).
If you do not have a Social Security number, then leave that space blank on your registration form.
If you don’t provide any of these numbers or the state can’t match the number you provide to official records, you will have to show an accepted form of ID the first time you vote.

You can use one of the following forms of ID. It needs to show your name and current address:
Must be current or unexpired

Oregon driver’s license
Oregon state ID card

US passport or passport card
Tribal ID
Student ID
Military identification
Utility bill
Bank statement
Paycheck
Government check
Other photo ID or government document

All easily attainable by illegal immigrants.

Early 2000s HRC comments on immigration and such would make her a republican today.

Didn't know that - there you go.

If things are to get back to "normal", the left is going to have to gravitate back to classic liberal standards.

TDS might not make that possible.

I believe this discussion was about needing ID to vote and not about illegal immigrants.

To get a REAL ID, you must present original or certified documents proving your identity and lawful status in the U.S. (such as a U.S. birth certificate, U.S. passport, or valid Permanent Resident Card). It is mandatory for U.S. citizens to show proof of citizenship or lawful presence to obtain a REAL ID-compliant.

Required Documentation Checklist:

    • Proof of Identity/Lawful Presence: U.S. birth certificate, U.S. passport, Certificate of Naturalization, or valid Permanent Resident Card.
    • Social Security Number: Proof such as a Social Security card, W-2 form, or paystub.
    • Residency: Two different documents proving your address (e.g., utility bill, lease agreement, mortgage statement).
    • Name Change: If your current name differs from your birth certificate, you must provide proof of the name change (e.g., marriage certificate or divorce decree).

All documents must be originals or certified copies; photocopies are not accepted.

All 50 U.S. states, the District of Columbia, and five territories are now issuing REAL ID-compliant driver's licenses and identification cards. While all states are in compliance with the federal law, residents must still visit their state's licensing agency to obtain a REAL ID before the May 7, 2025 enforcement deadline.
ID plus proof of citizenship

The simple solution is to require real ID to vote.

Most official and all 'real' ID today requires proof of citizenship.

      • Social Security Number: Proof such as a Social Security card, W-2 form, or paystub.

      • Name Change: If your current name differs from your birth certificate, you must provide proof of the name change (e.g., marriage certificate or divorce decree).

While all states are in compliance with the federal law, residents must still visit their state's licensing agency to obtain a REAL ID before the May 7, 2025, enforcement deadline.
Original birth certificate cost varies by state and can be anywhere from $10 plus and additional cost of $20 to $67 for rush service.

Passports cost anywhere from $165 to $225.

The cost for a Permanent Resident Card costs $1,440 USCIS fee (Form I-485) for adjusting status within the U.S., plus additional costs for medical exams, photos, and legal fees.

        Yup.

On the flip, make it very easy for those who don't have a real ID to get one.

Voter ID and proof of citizenship
        Paper Ballots
vote in precincts within your area code
No mail-in ballots except for military
count ballots and same day results ON ELECTION DAY

The ONLY reason why the Marxists (Formerly the democrat party) don't want this is so they can continue cheating elections along with massive gerrymandering.

My family and I have been mailing in our ballets since VBM was instituted in Oregon in 1998. I am not interested in changing this routine. Our precincts are already known because the state sends out the ballots to registered voters at their home addresses. One must be registered to vote before they can get a ballot and vote. Proof of citizenship and voter ID is already known before a ballot is mailed. FYI, Trump and Melania voted by mail several times including two 2020 elections. Message to Trump, practice what you preach!

Explain what you mean by area code. QR codes and barcodes tell a ballot scanner which election the ballot is valid for, and what town, ward, or precinct you live in.

Good luck with counting ballots and providing the results on the same day as election day. If you want election results on election day, it is more likely to happen with mail in ballots. The are a multitude of reasons why ballots are not completely counted and the results available on election day. This is even more the case with federal elections. Also rushed ballot counting is more likely to result in mistakes. Do you seriously believe 154 million ballots can be verified and counted in four hours? Polls close at 8:00 pm. Rather than listing all the steps involved in verifying ballots, read them for yourself. Here is the link: https://votingrightslab.org/2024/06/24/ballot-verification-the-first-step-toward-securing-free-and-fair-elections/.

Explain why you tied gerrymandering to how and when we vote?

Do you know how much legally proven voter fraud happened in the 2020 and 2024 elections?

Interestingly, Republicans were responsible for most of the 2020 gerrymandering. See below:

"After the 2020 census, Republicans controlled the redistricting process in more states than Democrats and used this advantage aggressively. By Brennan Center estimates, maps used in the 2024 election had on average a net 16 fewer Democratic or Democratic-leaning districts than maps than complied with the strong anti-gerrymandering standards in the stalled federal Freedom to Vote Act."

Here's a teaser: last night I was watching a documentary about a dumb reality show on Netflix, and I had the gas fireplace running to stay warm. Weirdly, every so often, out of the corner of my eye, I could swear I saw my dear departed dog, Lucy, move around in her bed. Of course, I knew this was not possible because, well, she's dead and I gave the bed away several months ago. Have you ever had an experience like this? Do you think our departed family and dogs especially watch over us? Should I adopt a puppy or maybe an old dog whose has lost its owner? Pets are such a comfort to us, but they are also sometimes a real pain.

        Agree.

Get everyone in the US a Real ID, and make in person voting with that ID mandatory.  Exceptions for those out of country or disabled, etc...

And make it a national holiday to ease any work related issues as well.

        2020 election fraud findings:

        - USPS in Wisconsin collected and backdated over 100,000 ballots on the morning after the election
        - 300,000 fraudulent ballots in Arizona
        - 548,000 fraudulent ballots in Michigan
        - 204,000 fraudulent ballots in Georgia
        - 121,000 fraudulent ballots in Pennsylvania

        - US Postal Service subcontractor truck driver, testified that he transported approximately 288,000 completed mail-in ballots from Bethpage, New York, to Lancaster, Pennsylvania; his trailer full of ballots went missing after he dropped it off

        - Whistleblowers claimed drivers transported thousands of pre-filled ballots across state lines which is a federal crime

        - Election officials in Virginia blue jurisdictions failed to maintain the ballot chain of custody

“There are circumstances where in the middle of the night, tens of thousands of ballots were appearing in states like Michigan, where Joe Biden was getting a higher percentage of the vote than Bashar al-Assad and Kim Jong Il in their elections”
