Didn't Trump claim in his election campaign that if the Democrats won there'd be war with Iran?
So what happened? His current administration is completely different to the previous one where he went out of his way to avoid any wars.
He predicted Obama would start a war with Iran because he's such a weak negotiator (unlike him). Well we see how well Trump's negotiating works. Now Trump says no other president had the balls to start a war with Iran! I don't want anyone to get the impression that I somehow have a positive view of Obama; the thought of him makes me wretch, figuratively. Trump just invites this constant ridicule through his baloney statements.
He had actual adults surrounding him last time. It's pure sycophants now and we are seeing his true will.
I'm not decided on what the exact truth is, but Douglas McGregor claims it wasn't actually his true will to attack Iran. He claims through the years of knowing him he was always instinctively noninterventionist, Trump used to say the middle east wars were nothing but "blood and sand" and he supposedly always wanted to bring American troops home. He is also a businessman and wars are bad business and he feels political support is mostly dependent on the economy. Of course McGregor says Trump still has to own to what he does, even if it's due to enormous pressure. Just relaying what this fella feels, it's interesting.
And of course there's this usual baloney I have to mention...
"AI Overview
Retired U.S. Army Colonel Douglas Macgregor has frequently claimed that his appointments to government and defense roles were actively blocked by pro-Israel advocates and neoconservatives. He has consistently alleged that the U.S. government is overly influenced by the Israel lobby.
Specific instances include:
Pentagon Role (2020): During the Trump administration, Macgregor was appointed as a senior advisor to the Acting Secretary of Defense. However, his nomination to a higher Pentagon policy position previously stalled or faced severe resistance. This was attributed in part to pressure from congressional figures and groups supportive of Israel, driven by his outspoken foreign policy stances and past controversial comments"The U.S. really appears to be in full control of this situation. Lmao!
This analyst named Mercouris says the Russians have warned Iran not to make the mistake they did in 2015 with the Minsk agreement. Very important to demand the MOU is adhered to. This is likely just a pause to rearm until next time.
However, it's probable the Iran gov felt pressure from the Russians and the Chinese to do this agreement now despite resistance from their hardliners. Russians and Chinese value stability. Also don't contribute to a worldwide calamity because it would make the world lose sympathy with them. If the US and Israel cause the MOU to break the Iranians will get more sympathy if they act in their interest, unlike if they showed no openness to a little compromise for the good of the world.
Mojtaba said something to the effect of he disagreed with the MOU in principle but sanctioned it anyway for reasons.
