Iranians are not morons. Sure the US and Israel could destroy Iran easily with 100-200 nukes. Go watch the movie Threads to get an idea what would happen if 210 megatons of nukes dropped on the UK.
So Iran will have a limit on how much they can retaliate. They could level Israel, but that would be their own suicide as well.
BTW, if the US or Israel eventually use nukes on Iran, that undermines their whole moral justification for this war of aggression on Iran.
Iran cannot have Nukes — says the US, the only nation to use nuclear weapons on another nation and their civilians. Also, we're going to nuke Iran to drive home our point that they cannot have nukes!
A desperate Israel would absolutely nuke Iran, and the Iranians know that. The only sane thing for Iran to do is to develop nukes ASAP. They will need about 50-100 themselves. If I was in the Iranian leadership I would aim for a final tally of 500-1000 nuclear warheads ranging from 500 kilotons to 1 megaton and with the means to deliver them anywhere in the world. I would also develop submarine launch capabilities. I know the North Koreans are working on that.
I am still scratching my head wondering why the Russians or Chinese did not just give Iran some nukes to prevent this current escalation. The Russians surely realize this war on Iran is part of a long-term strategy to weaken Russia and China. It seems like all these nations are playing some kind of script behind the scenes.
