WASHINGTON—President Trump played down concerns about the living conditions aboard the USS Abraham Lincoln, an aircraft carrier that has been deployed for more than 250 days, and suggested the lengthy naval deployment in the Middle East was “not nearly long enough.”

LOL, classic Trump, gotta love it!

"After we finish defeating Iran, which is being very badly defeated, pretty soon I'll be declaring the Hormuz Strait a territory of the United States," Trump said in an Aug. 14 speech in Garden City, New York. "Essentially that's what we have. We have the blockade. No ships get through unless we want them to."

Wonder how soon "pretty soon" ends up being. It's being defeated but it was defeated 38 times already, in fact Iran was defeated in the first hour. I wouldn't be surprised if this takes many years and becomes yet another "forever war."

Iran has excavators ready sitting inside the tunnels and once the entrances are bombed they sometimes come back online in a few hours. I obviously don't know myself what their capacity is now but apparently Israel thinks by mid-2027 they are back at pre-war levels. Iran of course claims they are building faster than they are firing them.

We need a final solution to the whole middle east question. I vote we either pull out and let the animals kill themselves off or we hit the restart button on them.

I'm not an American and don't have an opinion as an American what it 'should' do but I've seen some talk about a 'Fortress America' type of concept that sounds logical to me. Oceans on both sides, no one's considering invading it as is. Iran firing missiles at it isn't a credible threat. Now America is stretched thin, "The United States operates approximately 750 to 800 military bases outside its borders spread across roughly 80 countries and territories," Iran exposed the limits of its military power projection on the other side of the world, some feel the missile shortfall showed the MIC isn't working efficiently enough (will take many years to restore the weapons, radars, aircraft), and so on. What do you Americans think about Fortress America (where its made even more impenetrable)?

I read this morning that the Iranians are willing to wait out trumps term thinking they’ll get a favorable deal after he’s gone.
