On April 2, 2026, Quebec passed Bill 9, expanding its secularism laws to ban collective prayer in public outdoor spaces—such as parks and streets—without municipal authorization, and prohibited dedicated prayer rooms in public institutions like universities. This legislation also extends restrictions on wearing religious symbols to daycare workers.
