Mariah tell a few stories about her brother.
One where he's supposed to be baby sitting her on a Friday night and goes out with his friends and leaves her alone. Apparently there was a scary episode of 20/20 on about child abduction and she got scared when some neighbor kids started to throw rocks at the window. It basically sounded like a nothing burger, but at six she was scared.
The second story was her brother wanted to use the car and their mom wouldn't let him, so he pushed their mom against the wall and took the car. Mariah ended up calling a neighbor for help and they called the police. Not a great move by her brother, but he made peace with their mom the next day. Again another nothing burger.
The last story has the three of them driving to the beach with a friend of her brother. The friend has a comb in his pocket and on the drive to the beach he uses it to comb Mariah's hair. They didn't say a word to each other while he was doing it. Mariah never felt her mom took proper care of her hair and for some odd reason that even was a pivotal moment and lead to a life long obsession with her hair. It's important to note that up until that point Mariah never felt pretty, she always felt like an ugly duckling.
