My anxiety often kills my appetite earlier in the day so I tend to eat the majority of cals close to bedtime. Usually sugars (or carbs in general) seem to help sleep for me. I don't know if it helps sleep quality but carbs are of course known to cause sleepiness and if I fill up with sugars when I go piss during the night it keeps me asleep for longer it seems. I think there's a term called backloading where during a diet you schedule your allotted carbs close to bedtime?

I'm having extreme night terrors currently, to the point they feel unsettling for a good while after I've woken up. I hadn't thought about food affecting it, I'm going to make a mental note of it, thanks.

Eat cheese before, excellent dreams

Eat cheese before, excellent dreams

What kind? :D

AI Overview

Eating cheese before bed can indeed make your dreams more vivid. Cheese is packed with tryptophan and amino acids that the brain uses to manufacture serotonin. However, highly aged or blue cheeses can be harder to digest, and eating a heavy snack late at night can disrupt your sleep cycle, making you more likely to remember strange, vivid dreams or even bad dreams. The type of cheese you choose can actually shape the style of your dreams!

Cheddar: Known to prompt dreams about your past and childhood.

Blue Cheese: Often associated with wild, intense, and bizarre dreams.

Brie: Can induce soothing, relaxed dreams.

Mozzarella: Tends to be lighter on the stomach, making it a safer option for a peaceful night.

For the best experience, try to enjoy a small portion (around 20 grams) of mild cheese about an hour before sleep, and pair it with a few crackers for better

AI is wrong. When I’ve consumed pizza with mozzarella before bed, nightmares have been horrible. And I’ve had a sleep paralysis demon on my bed holding me down and leaning over my face.

Remember the old advices about waiting an hour after eating before exercising?

That's BS.

When I was a kid my friends stopped by to play basketball as I was eating dinner.
I finished eating quick and went out and played a hard b-ball game right away.
I did not feel any bad effects.

So, it's BS.

F*ck Bryan Johnson.

The smellier the better.

I like blue mold cheeses. I first thought you were kidding about the cheese and dreams but then remembered the tyramine content.

Quote
Cheese doesn't inherently induce lucid dreams, but it contains tyramine and tryptophan, which can trigger vivid or bizarre dreams by boosting brain activity and interrupting your sleep cycle. When sleep is disrupted, you are more likely to wake up during REM sleep, allowing you to vividly recall your dreams.

Tyramine: This naturally occurring amino acid, found in high concentrations in aged and fermented cheeses (like Stilton, Cheddar, and Parmesan), is thought to stimulate the release of noradrenaline—a stimulating neurotransmitter. This can cause a spike in brain activity, potentially making dreams feel stranger or more intense.

Probably no one is interested but some bodybuilding supp companies have released supps specifically intended to induce lucid dreaming, tying this subject to the bodybuilding industry LOL. Dream analysis and such is probably mostly baloney but I'm fascinated how intense my dreams have been during some periods, how they feel hyperreal (correct use of the word?). In my dreams I've many times specifically thought is this a dream and then in the dream I've tried to look at my surroundings trying to decide whether I'm dreaming or not :D

Brian made some post on X about all the hate he is receiving, people are glad he has a disease. I sort of agree, the guy may be a douche but I never hated him for his efforts. I was more questioning it due to the massive amounts of drugs and how you could predict what would happen.

Musk said he had labs done by some "Dr to the stars" and the doc said you need this b12 for 1K a month LOL. Most clients don't look at their labs but Musk saw his b12 was already above range. Doc was a grifter :D

Having access to longevity shit and making use of it don't always go hand in hand. Look how it turned out for Steve Jobs.

Bezos might be going for quality years over quantity though.

As I recall Jobs's "reality distortion field" ultimately killed him. He believed he could cure his cancer with "alternative" treatments until it was almost too late. Everyone around him was telling him this was delusional but Jobs became successful by sheer willpower and going against the grain. Had he listened to the experts that one time he would still be here today

Didn't he know insulin and sugar feeds cancer?!

Having access to longevity shit and making use of it don't always go hand in hand.

Most "longevity shit" is also highly theoretical and experimental. Lots of grifters in the field. Finding the legit cutting edge expertise or half-legit expertise might be hard even if you have unlimited money. Also when you are faced with death your better rational judgement might fly out the window.
