BREAKING🚨 A federal judge just ruled Trump broke the Constitution when he yanked $7.6 billion in clean energy grants from 16 states for one reason: every single one voted for Kamala Harris.
U.S. District Judge Amit Mehta didn't have to guess at the motive. The administration admitted it. He wrote that officials made the cuts "primarily — if not exclusively — based on whether the awardee resided in a state whose citizens voted for President Trump in 2024." They offered no explanation for how punishing people for their state's vote served any government interest.
The cuts killed 223 projects across 16 Harris-voting states. Nearly identical projects in Trump states were left untouched.
The paper trail was sloppy, too. The termination notices weren't even sent on official Energy Department letterhead. They came on letters with "Department of Energy" simply typed across the top.
The damage wasn't abstract. California lost up to $1.2 billion for a hydrogen hub the state says supports over 200,000 jobs, with $10 billion in private money already committed. Battery plants, grid upgrades and carbon capture projects were also wiped out.
Budget director Russell Vought announced it on social media by bragging that "the Left's climate agenda is being canceled."
