Vince is in South Carolina, as in Greenville, SC. More money here than you can shake a stick at. I moved from Syracuse, NY to Greenville and am blown away by the increase in wealth here.
I actually moved to Piedmont in 2018 - see the "Fuck that shit Thread" on the outskirts to save on property taxes although I'm about 10 minutes from Downtown Greenville. Downtown Greenville is quite nice, its clean, you have a wide range of places to eat from affordable places like Jack Browns Beer and Burger to fancy expensive establishments like Scoundrel & Rick Erwins West End Grille. If I'm downtown, you'll usually find me at Bar Margerita or The Swordfish Club although I've been eating at home the majority of the time.
However, I would avoid living in Greenville somewhat due to the cost of housing has skyrocketed along with property taxes which pales in comparison which is all the same. But the truth is that people move to the South for southern living not city living. I'll go out on my patio and be able to sit outside and hear nothing but the sound of nature. I don't have to lock my doors if I want to and its peaceful. No yelling or screaming or loud parties at night.
If you want to move here and get your money's worth out of a home, I would recommend Fountain Inn. There is practically no crime out there, its quiet and peaceful but the biggest thing is that its part of the Golden Strip as it runs alongside I-385. You can be at GSP Airport in 30 minutes or Downtown Greenville in 20. However, Downtown Fountain Inn is pretty cool and you don't really need to go downtown . You can go to the Mill which is a multiplex of different restaurants, a brewery an event pavilion an video arcade for the kids and a community lawn with a theatre size screen. The only franchise restaurant is a Subway. Everything else is locally owned places. If you want coffee, you go to Steam, not Starbucks. You want tacos...go to Tacos Bla Bla Bla or El Patron or go to Hottos for Jap food. There's a Food Lion for groceries along with the Fountain Foods Market but there's an AM-PM Farms Butchery. They will sell you a whole or half cow, chop it up and vacuum seal it for your deep freezer.
The housing is the best. The house you can get for 200k would cost over a million bucks in NYC or buy a piece of land and build your own. So you have a nice place to raise your children, enough places to eat and drink to stay in town but you're just highway miles away from Downtown Greenville or the GSP Airport if you need to get somewhere. The only thing you have to deal with is that there's no actual "nightlife". Everything mostly closes at midnight and thats Friday & Saturday, there are no nightclubs neither. But if you're looking for a nice place to raise your kids, don't want to deal with crime, and be able to commute across the country quick, Fountain Inn might be the place for you
