He competed much bigger than that later. He could have turned pro, still could theoretically, but as he says his stomach is blown out and not recoverable. He has lots of herniations in the stomach wall which I is from the lifting.

Muscular hyperplasia does not occur in humans

positively know what could happen with massive drug use over a long period of time. You'd have to test a subject before and after I think. There was something I saw in passing about subjects' muscle architecture looking different after long term lifting apart from size. Not hyperplasia but otherwise just looking at it.
It would be interesting if a scientist looked at the muscle before and after. Not just looking for possible hyperplasia but other muscle architecture, satellite cells and so on.
