It may matter if one does mostly isolation exercises or does a lot of compounds because obviously there's overlap with compounds. Back is biceps, chest is triceps and delts so with compounds it's not really one body part per day nor are body parts only trained once week. I realize I'm saying very obvious things, but still. I feel once a week for any part is enough, I question if more frequent ever really gives more results. Many disagree. But I'm the guy telling others lifting twice a week may be "enough" but most don't see it that way. Three minimum and 4 if in any way serious about getting real results. I never really grew one way or the other but I was my biggest and strongest lifting once a week and doing 1-3 exercises, sometimes my whole workout was a dozen reps total including warmups :D

Last year I was trying Basile's idea of keeping a body part sore most of the time. Only arms though, did them about 3 times a week for maybe 4-5 months I forget. Didn't budge my top measurements, still puny. To grow do more drugs and eat more :D

There are a bunch of people saying train 2-3 times even on squats and deads, nowadays aren't there?

I tried it.  I'm not sure.  Obviously there was lower volume.  For me, it always felt right to just go to a 90% weight and hang out and then back off.  Always felt like that was the best way to negotiate strength with my body.

I used to flat db press right up to something I could barely do for a rep or two and back down and that adversity seemed to work best for me.  Post shoulder problems (but not fully over), I'm actually struggling to get back to normal db press strength because I can't pull that usual stunt at the moment.  I feel like if my shoulder would permit me, all I need to do is go to something like 60kg dbs and say "deal with it" to my chest and I'll be back in the game.

I've seen some squat every day routines too. I've tried the 2-3 times a week on squats or deads for a few weeks here and there over the years. I did heavy good mornings 3 times a week for half a year straight once, almost no deads during and it actually helped my deads after a while.

I'm the exact same with that 90% idea.

You have to find some trick so db benches don't hurt. Maybe keep the dbs parallel or something. If I want to bench at all these days I have to do reverse grip benches on the damn smith machine :D

I'm searching.  I'll find a way.  It doesn't feel irreversibly gone.

Have you tried reverse benches at all? Dante Trudel aka Doggcrapp programs these in his routines as a tricep move. Although I'd guess there's a big chance it would hurt your shoulder. I remember when still a teen I did 350 on free reverse bench.

Use lighter weights, higher reps.

Be patient and strengthen the connective tissues.

Takes months.

I'm sure rocket already does it but also rotator work. Decades back I did them in a dedicated manner and thought it also added 22lbs to my bench after a number of weeks. I've suggested rotator work to some over the years but no one really stuck with it.

Saw a pic in the random bodybuilding pics thread.

Vic Downs. Said he trained one body part per day.

Looked it up and it seems he mostly did one body part per day.

Day1- lats. 3 exercises
Day 2- delts. 3 exercises
Day 3- triceps. 3 exercises
Day 4- biceps. 3 exercises
Day 5- pecs. 3 exercises
Day 6- legs. Quads, hams and calves and leg raises.

Interesting split. I don't know how effective it could be for a competetive bodybuilder but for the average gym rat it would probably work pretty well. Simple and time saving.

Anyone ever done something similar?

That’s essentially what I’m doing now, except I pair biceps and triceps and lift five days a week. Been doing that the past few years and have had great results.

I'd do whatever Joswift does. He is one of the few guys on here that has 1) shown a picture 2) competed in a bodybuilding contest and won.

Im in pretty good shape at the moment , I do an upper body session just switching around like a circuit, I dont lift heavy, 12-15 reps

Legs I do leg press and seated leg press calves
The leg press I use has a weight stack so I dont have to fuck about carrying 20k plates around the gym loading up the machine

I never use dumbells at all, I do lateral raises for delts with a 5k plate or use a tension band

I spent years believing all the bullshit the pros came out with

We can see how they all train today.. slow constant tension with moderate weights , its all drugs full stop
