Nubret Diet
« on: May 11, 2006, 11:24:01 AM »
Read somewhere years ago that apparently Serge Nubret used to not consume any meals the entire day, and then chow down big time at one sitting in the evening.

Always found hard to believe, but wondering if anyone heard of this.

I also find it hard to believe, not sure if it was 8 pounds of beef, but whatever it was he ate to support his mass(which for the time was very good)it must have been substantial.
Another thing, with the copious quantities he would be consuming at one sitting, surely he would have experienced some stomach distention in the process, although Nubret had one of the tightest midsections ever.
Perhaps bull as you said Alexxx, but the man did have very strange training principles, so perhaps he also had a strange diet.

He hunted the horses personally down with his bare hands and feet. And he ate all his meat raw.

Actually yes he did do that in fact Frank Zane and a fewof them back in the day would "fast" they would eat  healthy then when it was time for the next meal #3 4 or whatever they would fight the urge to eat the meal, and try not to eat. When they felt muscles depleting to much and they were becoming real flat then they would eat.The basis is that longer you dont eat the more the body will use fat for fuel, true but risky.

That explains how Zane stayed so small, but never built large muscles.  Yes they were proportioned and symmetrical, but not big!

Oh pretty good. I'm natural, so i'm na mass monster, but i must say that i get better overall results than with dieting hard.

I do a refeed about twice a week on training days, where i eat clean but massive amounts of food.

this helps with not slowing down my metabolism too much.

Just talked to a old timer in the gym, and Serge used what is called the warrior diet. Alot of bodybuilders from europe used this diet. You eat VERY light during the day,low gi fruits, a bit of yogurt like 3 tbs. and and a few bits of cottage cheese, then some soup, mostly just sodium and water types.
Then you workout, after your evening workout you have a large large meal to get your daily calories, you eat the small stuff first salad, veggies, then protein with fat, then if you want carbs and dessert.

So it  kinda makes sense I used to hear about older bodybuilders doing this they would eat huge meals eggommlettes and french toast.
The breakdown is you fast for around 20 hours the fasting begins after the big meal, it has a 4 hour slot,in which you take in the calories.
here is some more information on it www.warriordiet.com

I was thinking about trying it, it would be good for a weekor2 to do something like that to shock the body, but I don't think it would be a good diet ??? It's not for a bodybuilder really it's more for athletic purposes.

It kinda is like the Leo Costa Jr catabolic diet, where for a week straight you eat under 1o grams of protein, alot of fruits and veggies, then you pile on all protein, nothing but protein and fat. Gives the body a unusual shock where it is said to make the body uptake protein better.
I was able to do it for 2 days, feltlike crap and the notion of not having any protein kinda messed with me.

It's 100% TRUE! I knew Serge personally. I have witnessed him do this.

His normal eating plan went something like this:

Eat NOTHING all day (except "sugar cookies/lady fingers"). He ate these during "intermission" periods during his six hour marathon training sessions. He typically ate only a few to fuel his workout.

Late in the evening (usually starting at 11pm-12am) he would have a GIANT bowl of food which included 5-8lbs of beef, rice and beans (usually lentils). Although it is technically a "single sitting", he ate this over a period of a few hours while watching T.V. "Late Night Theatre" here in Los Angeles.

I was always amazed at his whole program. He was a genetic FREAK! He trained very hard and was incredibly strong! I have mad respect for him.

They studied hormonal manipulations with food.    Test rises when you eat.   GH rises when you dont eat.  also IGF1 rises when you skip a meal.

So this stuff of eating every 3 hrs may be limiting your natural potential.
