Hello this is katie Eric Oteros niece.My uncle was a good man. when i was 3 years old i was afraid of him.iwas going to go to his house 1 weekend and i found out he had died.i miss him even today in 2011. my mom cries about him somtimes. i cant believe some of these comments i am seeing about him have some respect i am only 11 years old and even to this day when i think what would uncle eric due.my grandma has spoken about ur rude comments my mom has talked about her being clean and my sister is to hurt to talk about him.i mean think about it if one of your close family members died would u want someone to make bad comments about them?think about how that makes us feel.i looked at these comments a few weeks ago and i couldnt stop crying so please for my family for me dont make mean comments about him

Yea, and the fact is that Getbig was overall cool in discussing him.  His family may think that we are disrespecting him for talking about him using steroids but fuck, that's what he used and if they had issue with it then they should have discussed it with him.  They obviously would have known that he was using steroids, lets be serious and if they don't think steroids had anything to do with his death then they may want to do some research first.

Eric Otero died from a tooth infection that ran to his heart.  It is very rare to the point where the one major thing that would contribute to having it is a compromised immune system.  That can occur from two things....AIDS and steroid use.  When you inject yourself repeatedly over the years, you have a tendancy to get absesses especially when its done in the buttocks which can result in developing a viral enteritis.  Its not a major issue but it does weaken the immune system over the years. 

If Eric's autopsy report was published, we would really know.  I thought 5 years ago that his mom was not telling the whole truth and left out a lot of details.  We'll never know and honestly no one should care.  He's been dead fro 5 years so let sleeping dogs lie.

 what the hell.. my father was a oral surgeon.. to say that teeth can not get infected easily to the point of being sepsis.. to say that steroids were the cause because of a weakened immune system is not wholly factual..  he saw this quite often and hospital stays because of infected teeth was not unheard of.. so did eric take gear ? yes of course.. but to say that gear would weaken the immune system to the point of essentially killing him from the tooth infection is a bit of a stretch.. this happens to people more often than you think and the vast majority are not on gear..

I just have to say that it is a pretty sad day when I cannot look back at my brother and read stuff (good stuff) people wrote about him. Death of a loved one is never easy - and it doesn't get better, it just gets different. I saw that my daughter posted a message, and it made me sad, but happy that she made a comment just the same. She was not allowed to go to the funeral because she was too young. I know how much she loved Eric, her Uncle - and I cannot STAND to see the fowl language that was directed her way when she posted her comment on here. You people need to remember that even though the "bodybuilder" may be dead to you, he is STILL family to US, and we pray for all of you that no one in YOUR family has to sit and read that kind of crap after any of your tragic losses!  Grow up, have respect for yourself, and keep your mouth shut if you have nothing nice to say. I agree with most of what you say—which is why you should not be reading and posting on this board.  If your brother were a famous celebrity and he passed away would you track down old issues of the National Enquirer to read stories about him?  I would imagine not.  That is the equivalent of what you are doing here.  As you can see this is not a highbrow forum of sophisticates.  It is combination of tweens, muscle wannabes, schmoes, and insecure poseurs, etc.  Coming to this forum was mistake number one; posting here was mistake number two.  Cherish the memories of your brother… but leave the Internet postings alone. You have nothing to gain by combing through them.

You post reminds of another bodybuilder who passed away some time ago; his family members combed through message boards online only to learn that their son was an escort who sold himself to male fans!  Needless to say they were shocked and devastated!  Did they need to know that?  Is that the lasting memory they wanted to have of their son?  Remember, curiosity killed the cat.
