WOW thanks guys! Imagine if they went with the Flex Wheeler standart. How our mr. Olympia would look like today.

 His calves looked good earlier. I don't know why he did something to them. He lost so much detail later.

I agree.  When he started going the Synthol and heavy drug use route...He really just screwed up his physique....which is a shame because his body would have only gotten more beautiful as he got  older.

They really should have gone with him for Mr. Olympia in 1998.  I think bodybuilding as a whole would have really benefitted from it.

Richard Jones has a better look in my opinion :)

Nothin against Flex but i have never been a fan of his................. I guess it's all the synthol, ninjas, kidney failure and such................. But one positive thing to say is no matter how much bad shit can be said he will always have all those ASC's and other pro wins.

Flex's physique will never be duplicated - Flex Wheeler the person will never be duplicated. The unreal shape of his physique, the way he transitioned slowly between poses, the way he owned his first 3 or 4 contests - never again. Its a shame he tried to get too big and lost his health, but that's how it goes.

His posing used to be unreal.  He literally would have the crown breathless when he would take the stage.  Flex was amazing.  :'(

The body was just sick....His waist was smaller than mine and a lot of other women!!!!!  He and Frank Zane should be what bodybuilding is about.  Creating that work of art.

A lot of people don't like Flex because of his attitude in those days, and that was completely warranted.  It's just that he was misunderstood...but you cannot take his physique away from him.

Ummmm well if you knew him in those days....you would think he was an asshole because he was.  :(

He was extremely marketable....Damn shame.

Above the knees and when he showed up in shape Flex was awesome, but those calf implants killed it for me. The early shot of him with his leg in the air shows how small they really were. I've been looking for an early entire body - the mags always cut him off at the knees - picture of Flex so I could confirm what Sean Ray used to accuse him of, calf implants. I wonder if he would have done as well as he did without the implants.

  I think that Flex in 1993 had the most beautiful physique ever. Talent can sometimes be a curse, though.
