Everyone ripped Strydom for saying he had a 30 inch waist. I was at the Colorado pro, but I didn't run up on stage and with a tape measure. I will say that Strydom's waist was definitely one of the smallest. 30... 31... If his claim wasn't right on, it wasn't that far off. Tamali on the other hand, saying his arms are 21 inches?

? I doubt they were 18!!! And, if you drained all the oil out of them? Maybe 12?

Tamali may not be good for the sport, but he sure is good for the boards!!!

Ultimately is anyone surprised that a bodybuilder wildly embellish their measurements.

I'd be surprised if there was a bodybuilder that didn't exaggerate.

That said Kamali's 21" arms is far more outrageous than Strydom's 30" waist.

The only way Melvin's waist is 28 inches is if it was measured while he was inhaling.

melvin was touted as having a 26" waist at one point. I can easily believe it is 27-28", hes the most genetically gifted pro in competition. His arms are supposed to be 22.5" so how can you say he isnt big anywhere? He has massive hams for his size also

i don;t believe the arm measurement at all mine are about 20 and his look a tad bigger at best

its funny how melvin is beating ray in arms, shoulders and legs yet ray's midsection...serratus, oblique, abdominus....are all so much tighter that as close as it looks, ray gets 4th and melvin 11th.

From judging that pic alone, Melvin Ownes Shawn. Who cares about alittle seratus when his whole body is twice the size otherwise. Lame.

Your conditioning was light years ahead and your calves were much better in that pose but overall I think your career speaks for itself. Melvin ain't done yet but he's not of your caliber and it's not to knock Melvin because I think Melvin has better shape and a better overall look but he's never been able to get your level of conditioning or consistency and I doubt he ever will.

Come on Shawn is more ripped than melvin in that photo and I agree with shawn tat it is just one pose.
2 of my favorite bodybuilders.
But the placing should have been closer.

Shawn had a 34" waist! Get a grip

Size doesnt matter, its the quality of the physique you present and the way you display it to the judges. Melvin has never gotten over 90% of his best, when he does stand out of the way. Almost nobody will be able to hang with him
