Shawn Ray Huge Cardboard hanging in India in a gym!

Hey Shawn,

I'm in India on holidays for a few weeks. I called into a gym in one of the smaller cities to see what it was like. Really old_school, like golds in the 60/70's but what really caught my attention was the huge cardboard cutout proudly hanging on the wall of one Mr. Shawn Ray, Arnold Clasic Winner 1991. Your fame knows no bounds!

No he didn't.  He was given the title after Shawn Ray was disqualified for failing a drug test which was bogus.  After all, Andreas Munzer managed to pass it   No-one has really acknowledged him as the champ and Mike eventually retired afterwards.

So what.  Everyone knows who really won and that's what matters.  When the trophies were orginally handed out, Shawn Ray was declared the best on stage that day.  Mike Ashley has the trophy and I'm sure he cherished it as it was his final pro win and would be better to retire with that on your resume than the Detroit Invitational

Good point, Shawn did recieve the trophy in front of everyone and had his picute taken with it at the show and all the pics will forever show he was better that day. Still sucks he had to get DQed and give all the shit back

THe only reason you're arguing this is because Shawn Ray humiliated you bad.  The video from the show proves it and like I said.  The drug testing was very poor and although Shawn could have disputed it fairly easy, he turned back in the trophy on the advice of Joe Weider and moved on.  He was rewarded with a huge salary increase and the following year won it again.

While it does say that Mike Ashley won that show, many people know that Shawn Ray really won the show, and was disqualified later because he didn't pass his drug test... while others did. 

Still, on that night, Shawn was the winner in the eyes of the judges and the fans.
