What about the fans?  Those of us who might be interested in attending a PDI event will have to make travel plans, too, ya know.  While NYC and Orlando are out of the question, I would consider making the trip to Vegas to see what the PDI is all about.

very good question.  I will add that Q to the list of Hardball questions for Wayne on the radio show.  I didn't think about that side, but you are right... cheaper to fly when buying early...

Sure, but that'll give all the builders who show up in their tank tops an excuse for it.

Anyway, you guys thought the Orleans was a pit? The PDI title show is going to be held at El Cortez.

Funny like money, kid! And after he's crowned Mr. PDI Fauxlympia, Lee Priest will greet diners at the $5.99 dinner buffet.

I thought it was going to be at the Rio or something like that.

Horton, making up shows, then cancelling them, is a weak approach to debate.

Please show me in the press releases where the Vegas show is scheduled.

"there was talk" is a tad unaccountable.  There can be talk about anything.  Who made this talk?  Speak on it.

Well you published it on your PDIradio site.
You might want to consider deleting press release number three too?

Kevin Horton of FLEX, are you asking if the PDI qualifier is cancelled?  Or announcing?

Well I used a question mark in the title and in the post so that would tend to indicate it was a question?

So I will repeat.

Any news?

And are PDI qualifying shows open to athletes outside of the US?

You are obviously referring to 240 when he said this.

"Horton, making up shows, then cancelling them, is a weak approach to debate."

240 is a company man who doesn't even know what his company is doing - or should that be NOT doing?

Cancelling the Vegas show is 100% false.  You can take that to the bank.  As long as it's not U.S. Bank in Denver.

The PDI will also have a qualifier for photographers to see if they are worthy of taking pictures.

Considering the show is only 12 weeks away, do you think it would be prudent to announce a few of the details?
Or is it going to be like a treasure hunt with athletes and fans getting prizes for finding the venue?

That might be the only way you boys get any sponsors.

Ok, PR #4 lists 3 amateur events in August and September: Orlando, Las Vegas, New York.

PR #6 states that there will be 3 pro events over 1 weekend in October: Slovakia, Hungary, England.

PR #6 also states that other European PDI events will be announced in its next press release.

PR #7 makes no mention of any additional European PDI events.  Neither does PR #8.

The latest press releases have all been the same and haven't said much of anything at all.  How are we - the fans - supposed to get behind something so 'fresh, innovative, and new' when the press releases have become as monotonous as any run-of-the-mill IFBB show?

Unless it's a MAJOR signing - and I will say that Lee Priest and Vince Taylor are certainly worthy - press releases should not be used just to announce that so-n-so is going to compete in the NY show.

Press releases should be used to announce: new sponsors, new events, broadcast/ticket options, or changes to any previous releases.

It's hard for me to believe that PDI's [complete lack of] credibility is even being debated.

Two facts:

1. They don't have a company web site.

2. The contact information in their press release is a free e-mail address!

I've seen Nigerian scammers with more impressive credentials than this.

Unless you can at least specify a reserved domain name, no - it doesn't help.

You know you're in trouble when you can cancel a show and no one notices.  I would feel sorry for all the fans who planned to attend and "athletes" who planned to compete, but there obviously are none.   :o

I don't think they're in trouble, I just think they need to shore up a few areas.

Using the press releases to generate hype is a great idea, but thinking that every NOC entry should be announced in such a way is not a great idea.

Because of their newness, the PDI has to be careful about listing events as 'tentatively scheduled'.  In my opinion, they can't exactly afford that.  Sure, because they're not yet stable, things are constantly changing, but they don't want to start off with a reputation for cancelled events - REGARDLESS OF REASON - and certainly do not want to come out of the gate with a bunch of excuses about why so many things that were promised are not happening after all.

Again, I completely support the idea of the PDI - I'm hoping that posts like these are received as constructive and not just critical.

As an instinctive anti-monopolist, I'd love nothing better than to see the IFBB forced to consume abundant helpings of humble pie. But if the PDI wants respect, they're going to have to earn it. So far, they're off to a distinctly unimpressive start.

Peter McGough was being a self-serving git when he sniffed about the PDI "taking advantage of vulnerable athletes". But that doesn't mean he was wrong.

Well we're not sure what the situation is, that's why I asked.
One PDI voice - 240 - wasn;t even aware of the show, while "Onlyme" says it hasn't been cancelled.

Horton, the show isn't cancelled, man.
I build and maintain many sites, the pdiradio site among them.  I don't memorize every show, and i misspoke on that one.  I admitted that.  I have 10,000 things in my head, and I forgot about the amateur shows, focusing on the pro sites I do.

You're kind of a poor argument here.  I know you've only arrived to kiss up to your IFBB handlers, and that is sad for you man.  You make up the cancellation, then freak out that a few of the supporters here on the board don't have hotel info for you yet.  If you want to know, email Wayne.  He is the promoter.  I am not the "PDI VOICE" as you said.  I am setting up a radio station and I build sites.

Scary how much attention the PDI gets of yours.  Good thing the IFBB isn't worried ;)
