« on: June 04, 2006, 05:01:25 PM »
I just ordered 5 rolls, 2 with salmon,3 with Tuna. I don't usually eat lots of sushi but i really like it so today im counting those 5 rolls as meal 4. Do you think its sufficient or am i going to have to throw a myoplex bar in there?

I like Sushi too, bit sashimi is a safer choice calorically.  With Sushi you have to watch the simple carbs from the white rice, plus, something like a spicy tuna roll has mayo in it and California rolls have avacado.  People don't realize that a bid sushi meal can be 1000+ calories.

I think I ate 10-12lbs of sushi Saturday night...

Funny thing is...an hour after I left the sushi bar...I was starving again.

you're absolutely right... as well the sodium from the soya sauce is a nono...  i love tuna sashimi ("toro," the light one) with wasabi

I eat sushi at least once a week at a restaurant called "Todai". It's an Asian buffet and for 13.95 at lunchtime all you can eat sushi as well as cooked food like teryaki steak, broiled salmon, etc. Getting reapl popular in the west coast and just opened here on the east coast. Damn now I'm getting hungry!

Sushi is an awesome cheat meal if you avoid the soy sauce.

Tombo not toro.  And the green stuff is Wasabi and the seaweed is called Nori.  As you can imagine Sushi and Sashimi is huge here.  Sushi means "with rice"  Seared Ahi is just the best.

You should go to a fish market where the sashimi is fresher. Usually they will give you alot more than a japenese restauant and the quality of the fish is better.I get half salmon and half tuna sashimi with ginger and soy sauce. Toro is also very good but a bit more expensive.

i misunderstood her question... i know the difference between nori and wasabi.... both are green... and the pale tuna is: マグロ ...... in English this is written as TORO

Toro (toh-roh) - Fatty Tuna. There are several different types of tuna you can order in a sushi restaurant. It comes in many different gradeswhich are from best to, well, not worst, o-toro, chu-toro, toro, and akami (which has no fat content).

Please see: http://www.sushifaq.com/terminology.htm

The menu you got the name from was probably americanized... no offence but you guys screw everything up... my aunt is Japanese.....

So I didn't cook anything for dinner, but I had some salmon in my freezer. I thawed it in warm water (half hour) and then just cut it up and ate it with soy sauce and some lemon juice. I wish I had wasabi, but at least it was better than nothing. Added some broccoli and a some diet pepsi, voila! Instant dinner!
