That picture was taken in a trailer, 3 years ago.  I crashed there one summer between places.  The smile was morphed of course- davidpaul has the original.  

But yes, I own a minority share in a mobile home community.  I konw it's realllly cool to make fun of trailers, but they are terrific investments.  Fema came, the last 2 summers for hurricanes, and they wrote a nice check for every one with any wind or flood damage.  Has anyone seen what happened to SW FL real estate and rental prices in the last 5 years?  I have.  

I do not live in a mobile home, but there is nothing wrong with those who choose to.  For the retired, they are great options.  For the wise, they are awesome investments.  For the ignorant, it's awesome to live in your 1 BR rented place and disparage those who live in apartments.  Keep it up.  One day, you might be renting from me.

There are some places in there where the mnfg. home is worth 25,000... but they drive a $50,000 cadillac, have 5 mil+ in the bank, and retire at 50, just to hang out and garden and ride bikes all day in Fla.   They live in a big house up north half the year, then relax in Fla when it gets cold up there. 

And the young ballers... yeah... cars with rims, rec'l weed dealers, 6 kids... not my favorite tenants   I much prefer the retired and stable.
