If your professor or colleague were at a bodybuilding expo, they would realize that the gals working the booths dress like that.  You wouldn't have to feel humiliated.  The outfits in those pics are a lot more modest than some I've seen at the expos.  They look fine to me.

Some people would say people that post pics on the internet "lack DIGNITY."  I wouldn't agree with them though, as I've done it myself.  Everyone has their own opinion.

In addition to some of the occupations listed by you all...there are most likely area modeling agencies that have "promotional" divisions -- where, for a flat or hourly rate, you can book a promo model(s) to work and event hand out fliers, spray perfume samples, etc etc.

Promo girls are sometimes girls trying to break into modeling for magazines and/or get some recognition and exposure under their belts by working at high visibility events such as this.  Fitness modeling is a great way for some girls to get into modeling if they have the face and body but not the height for mainstream high-fashion/runway modeling type work.

Some of the girls are fitness/figure/bikini competitors or contracted athletes - depending on the booth/sponsor for which they are working.
