Only if it's ground turkey breast or extra lean, otherwise you're getting ground turkey lips and other "stuff"

Turkey is a great source of protien, however, it contains tryptophane which can make you feel sleepy so I try not to eat it before I work out but im sure most of it is in my head.

Yup!  It's all in your head  :P

The tryptophan / sleepy thing is very misleading. Tryptophan works best on an empty stomach. Don't forget, it's an amino...   ;)  The tryptophan in a Thanksgiving turkey has to compete with all the other amino acids that the body is trying to use. So only part of the tryptophan makes it to the brain to help produce serotonin which causes the sleepiness.

It is the whole traditional Thanksgiving meal that can produce that after-dinner drowsiness since it's quite often high in carbohydrates -- from mashed potatoes, bread, stuffing and pie -- and your body is working hard to digest that food. Also, if you drink alcohol with your dinner, you will likely feel its sedative effect too.

So eat your turkey - whenever!
