basal metabolic rate...
« on: June 14, 2006, 03:48:29 PM »
For practical purposes like determining caloric requirements for bulking or dieting, what is the best way to estimate one's BMR?  I seen a few equations based on age, weight, activity level; but that seems too simplistic.

it is that simple.  It is a base number.

Pounds and inches  Formula: weight (lb) / [height (in)]2 x 703
Calculation: [weight (lb) / height (in) / height (in)] x 703

Calculate BMI by dividing weight in pounds (lbs) by height in inches (in) squared and multiplying by a conversion factor of 703.

Example: Weight = 150 lbs, Height = 5’5” (65")
Calculation: [150 ÷ (65)2] x 703 = 24.96
