Ok, I've heard of that before from a friend stationed in the Phillipenes (sp?). He said people would mug you and have that nasty crap on their breath. He was mugged once and then started carrying an inflated brown sack (looked like he had a bottle from the liquor store). Inside the bag was really a knife. Don't think he actually used it though.

I thought so too. He said that way you can stab them and then pull the bag back down over the blade. Blood will look just like any other liquid when it wets the bag from the inside.

He always looks pissed off and I'm sure he looked the same back then (1970s) so most probably stayed away for fear of having a bottle broken over their head.

there are 4 of those within ten minutes of my house. Was always curious about the happy ending. As for balut i haven't seen it in the asian markets i go too, maybe wasn't trying to find it.
