Hey,
Ive been slacking for a long while due to night shift and moving around with my work lots so ive actually lost a few pounds. Now im on a good rig that actually has nice camp, along with some work out equiptment (even if its basic)
Ive not been on suppliments for a while, but when I was I was taking multi vits, protein powder, glutmamine and flax oil. All of which I was buying at GNC which ive found most people around here hate.
My question is this, I want to order a new supply of suppliemnts, the stuff I get from GNC works find but ive heard from reading old posts on here its quite over priced and people who buy at GNC are considered "newbies" around here.. If I can save a few bucks I might as well.
I live in canada, where can I order from that the shipping wont be too high, I found one canadian shop (www.shopstix.com) but their prices dont seem much better than GNC. They have some QUEST protein powder 600g for 28bucks. The last product I bought from GNC was ISO-Pure whey protean 6lbs for about 80bucks. Now im not sure if my conversions are right but close to 500g = 1lb right? If so then I piad about 22buck a pound at GNC, compared to 28 without shipping..
So I guess im asking where I can get some good stuff at a resonable price, Ive not posted here in a long time but I am not too versed in this sport, so I don't know which brand would be best... I don't assume it would matter too much, WHEY is the best form of protein correct?
Any help much apreciated,
X
First of all, WHO CARES if "most people" hate GNC. If you can get good supplements at decent prices there, then go ahead and shop there. WHO CARES if those people call you a newbie (as of yesterday, June 22, I've been training for exactly 17 years; so, that tag don't apply to me). Do what you need to do to.
I can't vouch for the GNC stores in Canada, but in the USA (Florida, in particular), the stores do right by me. It's all about the Gold Card and looking for those marked-down items. IsoPure protein, unless it's marked down, is going to cost you a pretty penny, no matter where you buy it. Whey isolate is more expensive than whey concentrate. So, my guess is that this QUEST protein is mostly whey concentrate; whereas IsoPure is almost all whey isolate.
I usually get IsoPure fairy cheap. But, that's because I buy the RTDs when GNC marks them down. Last time I loaded up on them, they were $0.80 each ($0.64 with the Gold Card).
The best way to go about it is to compare specific products. For example, a lot of online store charge around $50 for 7-lb jug of CELL-TECH. Well, GNC charges $48 for that same product, if you buy it the first week with the Gold Card. Plus, there's the marked-down jugs of the old CELL-TECH formula that costs even less.
As I mentioned to another poster, when new products (or upgrade on existing products) hit the shelves, their predecessors get marked down. In addition to the aforementioned CELL-TECH example, the price for V-12 was about 40% less, once V-12 Turbo came onto the scene. And the same has (or will) happen to V-12 Turbo, now that VAULT has arrived.
Again, that's the GNC stores in the USA. If Canada does the same thing, then you're in business. If not, then pick out the items you need, compare the prices between GNC and some of these online stores, and make the best decision.
BTW - With regards to your conversion, you're not that far off. 1 ounce equals 28.35 grams; therefore, 16 ounces (1 lb) is about 454 grams. So, you purchase roughly 1.3 lbs of Quest Protein powder.
