I made no sarcastic remark...as i said, I'm sure you can back it up. I've never known anyone to make up a title that could be easily verified.

...I don't get paid for being the athletes rep, nor from the IFBB directly. I have a few contracts, the biggest from BB.com of course. My AMI contract is good, but I in no way make a living from it, it's a publication contract. I also have outside ventures that pay off quite well.

I'm the only guy to ever try and innitiate a union for the Athletes, that would be AGAINST the grain, not with it...I backed up my shit for the good of the athletes...NO ONE else has ever put their career on the line as I did...you can ask your boss about that one, I'm sure he will back it up.

Calling me a "puppet" was unfounded and baseless...especially when you don't REALLY know what goes on within the IFBB, or the professional circles.

Also, when have I EVER bashed the PDI? not once...check your facts, Jack.

After Don competes in the AC Pro, Bob will have a few more "reasons why I wasn't wrong" including but not limited to:

1. I never said Don wasn't going to compete; I said he wouldn't be allowed to compete.
2. I never said Don wasn't going to compete; I said he wasn't planning to compete.
3. I don't consider placing 12th to be competitive; therefore he did not actually "compete".
4. Quoting Bill Clinton, it depends on what your definition of "was" is.
5. I haven't actually logged on to getbig in years...someone else has been using my account

Chick,

I am an innocent bystander and not getting in the middle of all this he said she said BS.....

If I am reading correctly it appears the IFBB will not allow Don to compete.

Has anyone told him this as of yet?

Okay CHick, I thought you were being sarcastic. I'm sorry if I came after you, no biggie.

As far as the ifbb/pdi thinkg, all I am saying is that your loyalties are with them, obviously, mine would be too.

no big deal, it's my birthday, I am getting too old to fight!!!!! Be good man.

Jesus, some of you guys act like going thru a few poses on stage is the equivelent to competing in a triathalon. ::) If Don Long can hit a few poses at an expo then why not jump up on stage in a pair of trunks. What is so dangerous about him doing this? I'm sure he will look good enough not to embarass himself and it's not like he is going to win a show. With no chance of winning there would be no reason to abuse his body with diuretics and I'm sure he knows this. Just getting back up there would be a feat in itself.

You have to wonder what Chic's peers think when they read this stuff.

No you don't.

It's stupid to wonder about such stuff.

Don't be stupid.

Spend time caring about the stuff that really matters.

When your kid is born, I hope to hell you won't give a shit about Chick.

I like Shawn Perrine's writing and overall that article did seem balanced and made it clear that bodybuilding escalated Don's (alledged) genetic predisposition, but I think an appropriate title for the article would have been "Long on stupidity" lol.

I wouldn't be a grammar Nazi on these boards, but for a published magazine (I expect this will be in Flex soon enough), a copy editor should have pointed out to Shawn that the following sentence:

"Unfortunately, the kidney Long received didn’t take and he was forced to live a lifetime of six-day-a-week dialysis treatments... "

...implies Don is already dead (and lived quite a while). It would have been more accurate to have written:

Unfortunately, the kidney Long received didn’t take and he has been forced to live a six-day-a-week dialysis treatments...

And the only reason I bolded the word forced is so that no one would think the has been portion was a double entendre...  ;D

Why must you try and outwit guys like Rhino and 240, both of who's intellect is light years beyond yours.

Did you even get your highschool diploma.

Be honest here Chick, did you just look in the thesaurus for the word semantic? We all know you did.

Rhino is awesome, as his wit is tantamount to his physique.

I'm privvy to information you arent...I'm not here to gain approval from the nameless, faceless cowards on the internet...I'm here to set the record straight and give insight to the true fans that are looking for it.

Quote from: Chick on June 23, 2006, 09:25:28 AM
Tom was 278, and Ronnie wasn't "calling him out" he was astonished that he could be that big at 5'9, and was busting his balls....

That being said, Tom was natural for that show, and was fighting some serious health problems...278 wasn't a badge of honor, it was a big waving red flag...his body was starting to hold so much water from the kidney failure, that he could have been in real trouble within hours...the contest prep was actually having a reverse effect.

He wisely bailed out, as we were literally pumping up in the back and ready to get in line. His breathing was getting shallower by the minute, he made the right move and got himself to the hospital for treatment.

To all the guys who think it's funny or cool to rip on Tom for his problems...Tom doesn't go on the boards anymore (hasn't for some time)...he's running a successful Property Management business, so quit wasting your time...he ain't reading it.

More importantly, I hope none of you take it as lightly when someone close to you is lying there in the hospital bed with tubes and wires running everywhere, and a doctor telling you it's "touch and go" as their wife is looking to you for some sort of re-assurance...I don't care if it's their fault, or by the grace of God.

Life is short, my friends...I just lost 2 friends within a 2 week period...one of them as close to me as my own brother. Lets all be grateful were alive and in good health to even be on these boards...not revel in someone else's misfortunes.

Quote from: Chick on June 26, 2006, 02:57:26 PM
Tom *started* at 24 weeks out with gear...it became apparent immediately that this was a bad idea, and he HAD to go off...completely, for the duration of the prep...

What Tom chose to share with the masses, might just be different than the truth...i.e.- don't believe everything you read.

Chick- here you go AGAIN. You tried to set the record straight here. But all you did was lie. White lie, decietful lie or whatever you'd like to call it. You did NOT set the record straight here. This is not the first time you've been caught-nor any other pro being caught- not telling the story the way it happened. Do you just make the story up as you go along?
I was one of the "true BBing fans that enjoyed the sport" until I saw what you and other pros do to save face.
Now, this is the second third time I've presented you with this quote, to see which story you chose to pick. But I doubt you'll answer it this time, just like the last.

My guess is this:

--240 said Don would be competing
--Chick said Don wouldn't be due to his health
--Flex comes out with the article stating he will be competing
--Chick lays low, makes some calls, doesn't post here till he can get some info
--Chick finally posts - still stating that he won't compete

This is all a guess, but I think the part in italics happened - perhaps hoping to find out the IFBB won't let Don compete...

First off...amazing that few of you can actually READ....NO ONE said that DON is making a comeback and competing.

240 started a thread, and you all jumped to your own conclusions....as usual.

Don's Kidney transplant didn't take as of 2 years ago due to rejection...he's been back on dialysis since.

NO, he isn't planing a comeback...

240 this is what Chick actually said.  There's nothing in his post that says that Don Long wasn't competing.  It says he isn't planning a comeback.

Chick is right.  He never said Don wasn't competing and this proves it

So one can compete without actually planning to comeback?

Chick didn't have current information and misspoke as a result.  Once better information went public, he hid.  Upon his return, he changed his position and started playing word games.  No need to hop on his bandwagon now.. it's firewood.

hey vince...chicks done, you can wipe your chin now

we all know what he said and whether he meant to do it or not he implied that don wouldnt be doing anything.....which appears at this point to be incorrect. no big deal, it is getting blown out of proportion, but if someone like 240, who is constantly attacked by some people here, was to of said that you would likely be all over him for it. people here are picking sides based on their allegiances to chick or to 240.....not based on what was said and what is being reported now.....if you take away all the characters and just look at the statements, 240 appears to have been correct and chick either made an incorrect reply or worded it poorly.

I'm not going to get into this "he said, she said" bullshit.

I have talked to Don Long, and Jim Manion, and all the people that have a position on the situation...

I know Don's mindset when it comes to wanting to compete one more time...He in no way, shape, or form wants to "make a comeback": in the sense...just wanted to get back on stage ONE more time.

That being said...both I and Jim Manion would like nothing more than to see Don finishing business as he would have preferred, before being forced out due to his kidney problems.

Unfortunately, I as the athletes rep, can only go to bat for Don so much. Jim Manion as well, can only give his input and recommendation to the IFBB...ultimately, it's in the hands of the legal dept.

As a friend of Don's, I would love to see him back on stage...he is as healthy as he can be...problem is, no matter what, he would be in uncharted waters when it comes to being on stage again. As his friend...I say yes, as the Athlete rep...I wish he would re-consider. Do I believe IFBB Legal will allow it...no. They have nothing to gain and everything to lose should the odds allow a different ending other than a happy one.

I also believe they will say no, due to the fact that it would set a precedent to be followed by athletes in similar situations, who may want to compete, etc.. Legal departments do not consider feelings, or have empathy to a persons situation, etc. They make decisions based on the ramifications they could cause due to their negligence, and/or allowing an action to take place.

Don knows me very well, and also knows I have his best interests at heart. If they do say no, there are other measures we can take to bring Don back into the spotlight, and pursue his career as a professional bodybuilder...we discussed a few of those and I will be working on a few alternatives on Don's behalf.

I hope this brings closure to this ridiculous thread. I'll update those concerned as information becomes available.

Because they allowed your friend TP to compete after his kidney issues were well known, they may find themselves in legal trouble if they treat Don differently.  (especially since TP is white and Don is not).

240 please die and make us happy

To get to 240 his enemies will have to get past his family . Remember this famous quote by 240 from a deleted thread :

I would have to disagree. I did the smart and grownup thing by backing up.  Sure I could still be pushing it... and it could lead to putting a hole in King's FL buddies and dealing with losing my gun for a year and possibly my freedom, or putting money into a pointless court case, should someone from that camp make it go there.

Anytime I want I can make up a gif or website or insult to score points and prolong the situation, but I don't care that much.  I got another pro to melt, period.  I decided to apologize about saying things about his wife, as now that I"m married I realize that even if they are public figures, albeit minor ones, they do get upset when someone insults their mate.  So I'm not going to do that anymore.

Do I think King is a douchebag? Sure!  Is he a shitty Bber?  Of course!  Would I say it to his face?  Absolutely.  if a camera was put in my face, they'd get a middle finger, mace, then possibly a firearm should the situation warrant it.  I'm no pussy.  I'd kick the shit out of half the kids here, and I'd drop 90% of the rest with two well placed rounds should it come to that.  (My dad has killed a man, my brother crippled a man, my other brother threw a man off a bridge and is currently in prison... hesitation doesn't come easily in this blood, and should king or any of his groupees show up, there will be no words spoken.)

Can't improve on this. Chick's demonstrations of hair-splitting in a mule-like refusal to acknowledge an obvious mistake have been worthy of a Bush administration official.

Maybe he can have 240 declared an "enemy combatant" and held without trial under torture in Guantanamo.
