Bodybuilder clothing
« on: June 27, 2006, 09:19:25 PM »
Here are some of my favorite pics (old and new) of bbers in odd or funny clothes (at least by todays standards).  I always get a kick out of them...

I know right. Is it so hard to wear some athletic shorts and some form of tank or beater? I swear I see 160 pound kids walking around in clothes 15 times to big for them. The old excuse of nothing fits is bullshit now. Nike, Jordan and a slew of other companies make athletic gear that looks good and would fit them fine!

Noah steere was wearing a Celtics Jersey at the Arnold a few years back. if some dude at 6'6 and over 300 lbs can wear normal clothes I think these guys can also. If you wanna be unique and have style go for it. But most of these guys dress like total idiots.

Arnold and co had style in the 70s
A few guys who can dress are Bob Chick, Dareem, Gustavo and Branch. They have had nice warm up suits on every time I saw them before they competed.

there are no more excuses for the following major idiotic looks

1- never ever a need for a fanny pack. nothing you carry is that precious that it needs to be in there. that is what pockets are for. dont have pockets? leave it in the car. dont want to leave it in the car? carry it. and you shouldnt be wearing skinn tight spandex pants or shorts anyway. keys and money are not needed in the gym. and outside the gym you have pockets

2- otomix shoes - really, why? i mean seriously. these are the worst and most laughable shoes ever. do you need to be so hardcore as to wear them to make everyone look at you and think "wow, he must be a bodybuilder." well you know what, they are really thinking "wow, he must be a bodybuilder that spends too much on steroids to buy a decent pair of shoes". also, not even the pros wear these things anymore. they wear nike.

3 - skin tight shirts - nobody is that big that regular clothes dont fit them. short of being ronnie's size (which even he has suits and regular clothes made to fit him so that he doesnt wear those dumb bodybuilder clothes everywhere he goes), you can find stuff. i have seen up to XXL in adidas and nike type gear. not even mentioning the sean jean jeans or timberland stuff. personally, i wear claiborne and ralph lauren during the day. they fit just fine with the doube x sizes. you just want to THINK you are too big for clothes.

4 - waddle walk - really, do you think you are that big that you need to over accentuate your walk to look like a fat ass duck? i know of a couple of guys who compete. big dudes. they walk fine. normal. they dont have to flare their arms 2 feet from their bodies and waddle around barely moving trying to make it seem to everyone else like they are too musclebound to walk or move. here is a tip- loosen up. exhale. stop holding your breath when you move.

5 - string tanks - there are plenty of other tanks to wear. the old gary strydom slinky string tank looks dumb as hell nowadays. and you dont need to wear something that leave a ton of your nasty ass bodysweat on every pad in the gym.
