Off Days? Calories???
« on: July 03, 2006, 05:08:41 AM »
What do you guys typicaly do on off days, calorie wise?  Change to more fats less carbs?  Everything the same, minus PW shake?  I have a hard time eating if I havent worked out....the guilt/fat/bloated feeling sucks!

get over those thoughts for starters, your muscles still need nutrients and you have to eat.  You shouldn't be feeling bloated and fat after eating if you are eating clean.

I usually drop my carbs a little bit and my post workout shake, other then that I stay pretty constant (in all I guess it would be dropping about 200-250 calories).

I drop my carbs somewhat on off days.  You shouldnt get the bloat feeling unless you are eating bad. Also are you taking protein shakes?? Make sure you mix them with water.

Given the 48hr window of recovery time following a workout, it would seem that you want to keep your nutritional intake fairly constant.  The bloated feeling should not happen if you're eating "clean" fairly frequent moderate size meals with adequate fiber and hydration.  On the rare occasion when I take more than a couple days off, I would only then scale back calories and carbs.

I would increase my carbs. You are taking the day off from training to "rest" give your body the tools to refuel, replenish and recover.
