Holy smoke, ladies. Put down those handbags before someone gets hurt. Stallone is more properly a 'movie star' rather than an 'actor' -ie. the roles/movies he chooses to do are mostly vehicles for his rather limited range of emoting, usually of the action type. An actor on the other hand is able to internalize a role and show some definite characterization, Sean Penn or DeNiro are good examples. Mr. Stallone's ability to to do this is rather limited, so he chooses his roles carefully, and I would be willing to bet that he is his production company - he chooses what roles he wants to do, not some agent and I think this is probably where the problem lies. His early hits gave hime some credibility (read money) in Hollywood, but I would guess that his 'Q rating' (a quasi-secret Hollywood number incorporating many characteristics like popularity, bankability, age, looks, etc.) is probably pretty low these days, hence yet another Rocky movie. His arc-like trajectory in movies is all too common, but he has managed quite a good, long career (30 + years) despite his limited range.
