terrible, terrible, and terrible.
I was on it for 2 years.
I got fat , lost my sex drive, and was in the clouds most of the day.
It was very hard to come off too.
I took the effexor xr tabs. They are supposed to have less side effects than the regular ones.
I would stay away from all anti-depressants if possible.

explain to me the fat gain, was it from overcompensating and not following  a diet or did the drug actually cause it?????

I would say a fairly clean diet, but not a perfect one.
But, I was eating the same diet before the pills, then I gained almost 30 lbs.
I was on 300 mgs a day for quite a while.
Then I slowly went down to just a 32.5 mg dose at night before bed, to help me sleep.
Then I just stopped it.
It has been about 2 months since I have quit.
The fat is slowly going away, and I mean slowly.
And my sex drive is still pretty low, and on top of it I am on a ton of test right now!
So the stuff is still mesing with my sex drive.
But it may be mental, who knows????
My doc gave me some Levitra, but they don't work for me.
The morning after I take it though , I get a boner that will hardly go away the next day.
I think the Lavitra  may take alot longer to kick in than they say.
I think I might pop one tonight!

I took it for a few years at progressively higher and higher doses.  Never any sexual dysfunction.  No weight gain.  My doc told me that most people who gain weight on anti depressants do so because depression will kill your appetite.  Then when the drugs starts working, the appetite comes back and people over eat.  Just my experience.  These drugs have dramatically differing affects on people.

I was given it for depression and anxiety. The doc was trying to lower my anti-anxiety  pills like xanax at the time.
Effexor is supposed to help with anxiety, but it did not for me.
I did feel pretty nice and happy when on it, but I am glad I am off it now. I was just on way too many drugs at the time. I was always a good eater, so my appetite did not go up.
My doc told me most people gain 10-20 lbs when on antidepressants.

most people are just being pussies. i'd say probably 95 percent of people who have "depression" are just people who are unhappy with the way their life is going. If you have a good family, good friends, good job, and something that makes you feel like you are contributing to the world  or something you're involved in like a cause or religion or something it's almost impossible to be depressed.

I was on it for a while.  Never any sides--regular sex drive and performance, no weight gain.  Made me feel better.  So I guess the moral of the story is that the drugs affect everyone differently.

i'm not saying depression doesn't exist. for example when i was in high school for some time i believed i had clinical depresssion. the first thing a councelor said to me it could be a chemical imbalance, bla bla bla... guess what though? I wasn't doing anything with my life and that's why i was "depressed". when i got out of high school, got a job, got my life together the "depression" magically disapeared.i wonder what "depressed" people did before these drugs existed.

I agree completely, the world is becoming too PC, everyone suffers from this or that, we have to be gentle and careful not to offend this group or that person, what a bunch of B.S, some of these people that claim to be depressed just need a good solid kick in the ass, nuff said.

As for Lugar or whoever here is taking it. I don't know them personally so that's why I'm just speaking in general. it's like high cholesterol or obesity. all these things are now considered a disease. people get drugs for obesity and high cholesterol and blood pressure as if "lack of a drug" is what got them that way. Try telling anyone on getbig that obesity or high blood pressure is a disease. it's lack of diet and exercise that has them that way, not lack of pills. If depression was all about chemical imbalance then nobody would ever want therapy (which is over rated). If the depression is caused by a chemical imbalance then what causes the chemical imbalance? if it's a dissatisfied life then there is the problem. Everything has a reason, strange chemical imbalances in your brain don't just come out of nowhere. people aren't born depressed are they? How does a person go from not having depression to having it? It's always about their life. How many people do you know that are satisfied, happy and have fullfilling life and nothing in their life changes and they get depression like catching a cold? If there is some kind of disease called depression i bet only like 1% of depressed people have it.

Lugar you said here that you lost a ton of muscle over a few years and now you are trying to get it back. Anyone who cares about bodybuilding would be extremely depressed if that happened to them too. Maybe getting big again would make you feel good again.
