Yes they did have some cable machines, one if you were lucky.They didnt have anything like they have today.The leg extension machines didnt even half a place to lean your back on.The machines were sometimes chain driven and werent very smooth.The cable machines back then were also not real smooth or even dependable.I remember the cable would get frayed all the time or break.They didnt have hammer strength, or half the machines they have today.
As far a shoes go, they didnt have cross trainers, with arch support or stability bars in the middle of them.You had to wear Chucks by Converse or find some Running shoes by Nike.When it came to clothes they didnt have clothes like Crazee Wear, T.Micheal, or House of Pain, they just had sweats, and shorts.Plus tight clothes were in back then so it was hard to get clothes to fit.These days they have relaxed fit, and pants that are alot more baggy.

most people these days do train in socks, or even the converse shoes used back in the day, but whatever it doesnt matter. All in all, the reason bodybuilders are 'better' these days is because of better technology in steroids, better use, better dieting, supplements, smarter training, experience, introduction of cardio machines etc..

The guys at ironage say that the reason you see pics of Arnold and the others bare footed was simply because Gold's was close to the beach and they often walked from the beach to the gym or some shit like that.

WOW no GH or slin...You and Lee Priest should get together and write a tell all book about hormones...Oh wait a minute...Lee only uses primo and winny...Even though his fingers are getting larger and larger every year just like every other national level, pro level bodybuilder....
