When is "Baseball Tonight" going to have Ronnie on to return the favor?
" Everybody wants to hit homeruns, but nobody wants to lift no heavy-ass weights! "
" Zito's curve, Santanna's change-up, and The Big Unit's slider ain't nothing but a peanut. Light weight baby! "
Ronnie could put Peter Gammons, Tim Kurjukin, and John Kruk through a workout. That could be funnier than watching Ronnie take batting practice.
John Kruk always said " I'm a ballplayer, not an athlete. " And even though he is a fat-ass, and retired for a while, i bet he would dominate Coleman in almost any sport right now, not just baseball. I know Coleman used to play college football, but his size would hinder him so much that I would rather have Kruk on my team for either Pick-up basketball, or flag football, not just softball.
Say what you want about Lou Ferrigno, but in the late 70's, he lost about 20lbs, and dominated The Superstars Competition, and that was with coming in second in the weightlifting event. Ferrigno had good speed, actually great for his size, and was good enough to almost play in the CFL, after never playing organized football.
He represented the sport of bodybuilding very well in both the Superstars and The World's Strongest Man competition.
Sure, guys from the Ironage were no where near as big or freaky, but they looked and were far more athletic. Ronnie was a good athlete, but he would have to lose so much weight and probably shift his training for over a year or two, to compete in something like World's Strongest Man or Superstars.
As freaky as these guys are today, which makes them so popular among the niche bodybuilding fans, is what also stops them from becoming popular in mainstream.
