that's not what i heard, i heard Tito was landing elbow after vicious elbow and that Shamrock was laying there practically defenseless.

It was a good thing they stopped the fight with Tito and Shamrock..those elbows that Tito were throwing down on Shamrock's face and head were all direct blows with Shamrock not blocking at all.Thats a good way to get brain damage

Did you see the first fight? Why the hell didn't they stop that one where blood was sparkling all over the place but they stoped Shamrock and he was barely bleeding??

Alexx : Because a cut on the scalp like that bleeds allot but poses no threat to the fighter. ( Some stitches will be needed to close the gash)
But it really is a superficial wound. The strikes to Shamrocks forehead are a different story. Those can cause a brain Injury from the blunt force trauma. It's like if you cut your hand and need stitches, It will bleed allot but it's not a bad injury at all. The constant blows to the head with the elbow can cause much more damage. Also remember a fighter has to be able to Intelligently defend himself or the fight will be stopped. Ken was not defending himself. 5 or 6 blows to the head were all unanswered.

Why not just pull him away and give him a count of 10 like in boxing knockouts. Shamrock was clearly ok to go on..

because 99% of the fighters would recover 99% of the time at a count of ten. Shamrock was down and out, he wasn't advancing or able to defend himself.

Translation: the blows to the head would've kept going and he would've died, hence the stoppage.

What's the difference if they stopped the Ortiz fight too soon? Shamrock was catching elbows with no defense and Tito wasn't stopping. Did you need to see Shamrock unconscious or dead before the ref calls it?
