1995 Mr.Olympia Placings
« on: July 17, 2006, 10:29:54 AM »
Man it really amazes to see somebody like Coleman who used to place not in the top 5 or top 10, become Mr.Olympia 8x?  And on top of it make almost millions nowadays?  :o

hmm...

Two health problems and two dead in a list of 15.  Is that pretty well average (based on stuff said in the dead pool thread)?

Sonny was the masters champ that year.

The two health problems i know, but 2 deaths in the same year?  :o

wow, and the money has HARDLY increased in 11 years.  if the IFBB followed inflation maybe bodybuilding would'nt be such a subculture.

You think he should have been higher or lower?  I was there, and I think that he deserved his high placing.

Yeah I agree. But 94 was a good year for him.

Speaking of persevering. Does anyone remember who came in 16th ?
DARREM CHARLES...  I sat at the table next to him & his family at Brick Oven Pizza
between the pre-judging & finals.  Feeling I had to say something, I turned to him & said
"Tough Line-up" , He responded with "Yeah-bunch of freaks".

He went on to win some pro-shows as we all know. Good for him.
But the Olympia stage is brutally tough.

So since then ,he kept pounding away and took advantage of the smaller show's with his type of physique and positioned himself for top 10 in olympia.

He said in the Olympia tape that he plans on competing into his 50s

Darrem Charles has a great physique and will likely be competitive for the rest of his career - at least in the smaller shows

Flex had kidney problems and Mike had colon problems.  Sonny died of lung cancer in 2004 and Paul died of a heroin overdose in 2005.

I'm not sure if I buy that Mike's colon problems were related to bodybuilding though.  If anything, eating more frequently (and shitting more frequently) is good for the colon.  He may have ate a lot of red meat though, which is not good.

before Sonny died, he was arrested for drug trafficking by the ATF. I was watching the news that night when it came on, and I was like oh shit, that's Sony the bodybuilder

harrsion showed great potential.  had huge lats and legs.  competed at 280 like 10 years ago.

he did an interview on anabolicextreme and gave outrageous claims to his lifts - 200 lbs. dumbell shoulder presses for 15 reps and 675 incline barbell presses.

also, gave his cycle and it was pretty much nothing.

ian also stated that 1GF-1 is useless.

GH abuse has been linked to increased colon cancer risk. I won't go looking for it, but, I did find an article a few months ago related to that when I took this place more seriously. So it could be related I believe.

He was probably lying.

ian also stated that 1GF-1 is useless.

It actually was... back then. The IGF-1 of the mid-90's doesn't have a thing on the IGF-1 of today. The raw IGF-1 they used back then was a very unstable compound -- light, loud noises, heat or excessive movement would all destabilize it and render it useless. Nowadays we have modified IGF-1 compounds that are very high-quality and are even stable enough to be shipped overseas via airmail. What's more, the IGF-1 most pros take does not affect their natural levels... Very good stuff, in other words.
I'm not going to name drop anything, so don't bother asking. Those who know, know.

Ronnie Coleman said the same thing.
