When I was a young lad...
« on: July 20, 2006, 12:04:36 PM »
I saw those dudes in the gym wearing bandannas, zubaz pants, otomix shoes, and tank tops and said that even if I was the biggest dude on earth I wouldn't dress like that much of a dick. At what point does working out begin to effect one's ability to dress like a normal human being?

Please guys, please understand that even in the 80's, we thought those guys looked ridiculous in those clothes. We were not all crazy in the 80's, there were actually some cool styles. But look at the guys today with shiny vinyl sleevless shirts fake tans, tweezed eyebrows and cheesy tats. Whats up with that? Bodybuilders should take a look how Jay Cutler dresses. He stays current without looking like a fool.

Hey 240, big fan here, but please leave us musclebears out of the mainstream. We had it nice for years, our own subculture, a nice little name we all liked. Now I keep hearing the term outside of the gay culture. Sometimes is nice just to have something to call your own. Its kinda like something you like in the bodybuilding culture and then it suddenly goes mainstream its like when did that happen?. A lot of stuff in gay culture goes mainstream with straight guys (earings, tribal tats, bleached hair, shaved body... which I have none of btw..."after parties", all the metrosexual stuff, etc ) cant we just have this one thing.?...lol...grin

So for all you fashion experts who like ragging on what bodybuilders wear -
If someone told you the T-shirt and sweats you wear to the gym (or whatever you workout in) is out of style, unflattering or just stupid looking - would you rush right out and buy something else?

Believe me - even if you think what you're wearing now is practical, comfortable, and makes no fashion statement at all, at some point in the future, someone is going to believe it is out of date and ridiculous looking.

Surely you don't think these goofy underarmor things will ever go out of style...

They actually sell those on the otomix web site. They market them as being from the movie. Someone actually buys them to look like that guy.
