The strongest human being ever is clearly the poster on getbig with the most posts.  Logic that is indisputable.

  Greg Kovacs:

 - 625 lbs incline press, 8 reps
 - 300 lbs dumbbell rows, 6 reps
 - 445 lbs front military press, 12 reps
 - 810 lbs squat, 6 reps
 - 800 lbs dead-lift, 5 reps
 - 2700 lbs leg press, 15 reps
 - 300 lbs flat dumbbell press, 6 reps

Hope this helps! :D As I've mentioned previously, Kovacs is the only human being, ever, who could match his strengh against that of a silverback gorilla, albeit only the smaller ones...

Don Reinhoudt may have been the strongest man to ever live. He posted a powerlifting total of 2420 in 1975 with just a weight belt and a singlet.

Pound for pound, I would say that Larry Pacifico had the most impressive strength of anyone. He totaled over 2000 in the 220 class and 1900 in the 198 class without any of the lame equipment powerlifters use today. I don't think anyone has surpassed his lifts under the same conditions.

Didn't Joe Onasi behind the neck press 500 lbs for reps? That would probably put his max behind the neck 550 or 600 lbs! Now that is strong.

Yes he did on live TV.  But he didn't do very well in WSM.

Yes he did on live TV.  But he didn't do very well in WSM.

I've got to question this Keith - unless there is a video

Onasi capable of 600lb for one rep? nah, no way, that is the sort of pundage Gary Taylor was capable of

Joe competed against Taylor many times and came nowhere near Gary, hell, in the 95 WSM (when Joe was at realistically his biggest and most solid ever weight) they even had a [flintstone] barbell overhead event, Joe - if I recall - pushed approx in the area of 210kg, but didnt have much left, whereas Taylor took approx 220KG and pissed it (this was the year Taylor pushed 590lbs)

Keith, Joe was one of my faves, did you ever witness him lift near 600lb? seriously man, you word is pretty good here, I'd love to know, when, where etc

Cheers

I read that Gary Taylor did 600 lbs behind the neck push press. Also Ken Patera did I think 507 lbs strict press standing.

i don't think Gary ever did a STRICT press behind neck with 500, he prolly could have gotten 405 seated for a rep or two, Joe was probably stronger than Gary on the strict press by virtue of having far more bodyweight, i used to train with a Samoan dude who knew Joe and he said that Joe is extremely strong but he didn't think he could press 500 behind the neck, Gary may have been a better push presser because of his backround as an Olympic lifter.

I don't know about 600 one rep.  But on the news when he was promoting hik going to the WSM he was at The Gym and on the news he did 5 plates behind the neck for 3 or 4 reps with no spotter or liftoff.  I will try to get ahold of Joe about the tape.  I would think he'd have one.  I forgot what TV station or news did the piece.

I saw him do 405 on the BNP like it was nothing.  I could barely put out 3 and that was it.  He was strong as hell.  I don't thnk he was a really good bencher.  He got so thick when he comepted in the WSM.  I am pretty certain he was around 460 or so.  He came into my office after about a year of not seeing him and I couldn't believe how huge he was.  If I can remember I will call Gold's over on Oahu and try to find him.

Onlyme I remember you saying in another post you witnessed some guys press 240 lb dumbells at the gym in Hawaii. Can you touch on that please. Was it Joe or some other huge samoan monsters?

No, all of his lifts were confirmed by Bob Kennedy, who saw Kovacs doing them at Powerhouse Gym, in Toronto.
