By the way, I can't claim to be the world record holder in this event because it is not recognized by the guys who do grip events. They say I have the only such machine in the world so it doesn't count. How unfair is that? They think if I can do that much I should be able to beat everyone in pinching events using steel gym plates. Well, it seems that grip events are rather particular to surfaces, etc., and until standardization occurs then there really can be no recognized records and champions. There isn't even a world grip association. In the past if you exceeded someone's best you or someone else wrote about it and then it was 'accepted' as a world best. That is all I have done and have invited others to come and try their strength out on the machine. It is a testing machine. You have to raise the stack about 3/4 of an inch for the lever to fall. It works beautifully. The hardcore grip guys don't like that fancy stainless steel but my being a gym equipment builder I prefer using stainless steel for grips because they don't rust. I polished that surface so that there are no imperfections on it and it is absolutely smoothe. I guess I am ahead of my time. The best anyone has done with one hand using plates with a bar through the middle to add more weight is 65kg done by David Horne. That is a lot of weight and I haven't tried his apparatus and doubt I could better his mark without training on it.
