You guys are funny.Gene NEVER professed to be a great raw bencher.He is a guy who wears a shirt[by the way,shirts are legal in ALL feds]and he is the first guy to bench 900 and 1000lbs.Whats the problem?He isnt trying to be a bodybuilder,he isnt trying to be like so many of you who love wearing your wifebeaters to the mall with the lats spread the entire time ,he competes in powerlifting.Powerliftin g is judged by who lifts the most weight.We dont care how you look,we care what you can lift.Genes has totaled 2300 in a meet,so not only can he bench but he can do all 3 lifts.Im amazed at the hostility towards a guy who minds his buisiness and lifts.To my knowlege he has never said or posted one negative thing about anyone ever.I will say this.Im much more disturbed by some of the bodybuilders websites that sell pictures of the guys with a towel wrapped around their waist in a pool or ocean or just coming out of a shower.Is bodybuilding and bodybuilders trying to corner the gay market?Heres a bet.Put on ANY type of shirt you want and bench 1000lbs.So far there are two guys who have done it,if its so easy ,you can be the third.

I would be interested to see what federation that would allow Rychlak's construction.

Comparing Rychlak to someone like Tiny Meeker is laughable.

I suppose Mendy or Kennely could challenge Meeker, but they would have to learn to make a proper stop at the chest and lock out first.

They usually save the suits for the meets.  If you ever saw one of those fat slobs trying to get into 1, with the help of 3 guys and a can of baby powder.  Funny site, but a chore better saved for once in a while than every workout.

What is this idea that gear is new in powerlifting.Almost everyone on here has their nose up Kazmires rear end.Guess what?He used a squat suit.As did Ed Coan,Kirk K,Doug Furnas and every other  big time powerlifter in the past thirty years.You need to go back to Reinholdt to find raw lifters.As time goes on gear progresses.Just like pole vaulters use aluminum instead of wood,golfers went from wood to titanium and baseball dropped the pitchers mound down,things progress.There was a time when a bodybuilder would use some d-ball and test,now they are walking drug stores.Who cares?The people want bigger people,bigger numbers and freakier stuff.Thats the nature of sports.

Thats Steve Wong at the WABDL Monterey meet.  He is a good lifter and If you ever get to meet him he is a nice guy.  Big as fuck too.  As for the rest of the comments on here,  I still dont understand how people can talk shit about a sport they know nothing about.  Its all weight lifting isnt it?  Nobody commented on that picture with Mendelson looking actually ripped at over 300 pounds, even though Gene looks like shit standing next to him.  I personnally am not a fan of Gene since he will only lift at his meets under his conditions it seems (with the exception of that Olympia embarresment), but he should get a little credit for his accomplishments.
