BS: Jonnie Jackson Dead Lift record??
« on: August 16, 2006, 06:58:57 AM »

In the new muscle time ad they say his record was 804lbs and in their web site they say 825lbs.  I still think it is still all bullshit and he aint even close to Ronnie’s strength

for what i know its 804. There are pictures of it i saw many times...I think he did try to do 825 but it didnt passed as a 'ok' lift. So he 'just' got the 804 as a official lift

on muscletech they say that his squat is 825lb , I don't see anything about his deadlift record

Squat (1 rep max.): 825 lbs.

While shooting a video he doesn’t go over 500 but when talking he says I did once upon a time

Ronnie proves his strength on video as evidence

gotta agree here.. i keep hearing how strong johnnie....is .. and that he is stronger than coleman.. but i have yet to see any evidence of this....
johnnnie as i have heard is strong on pull movements.. ronnie is strong on both push and pull..
i think even cormier in his heyday is stronger that johnnie particularly on push movements.... same with levrone
choice is an illusion

Ok, let me clarify this matter.  I personally witnesed Johnny pull over 800 lbs.  He did it at the Rise of the Dead meet which was held in conjunction with an IFBB show in Florida a couple of years ago.

The difference between what Johnny did and what Ronnie does in his video is Johnny did it with no straps.  Frankly, I think Ronnie could build his grip up rather easily and both men are very close in deadlifting strength.

yup, straps and gloves are not allowed in power lifting meets...chalk is it.

i'd really like to see ronnie and jonnie compete in a full squat/bench/deadlift meet against each other...all RAW lift attempts.

I really don't think straps make much difference for singles. You lose focus and momentum wrapping the straps around the bar. It's much easier to walk up, bend over and pick the bar up in one action... maybe that's just me??

They help but If im going for a max I agree, bending over and straping in can be frustrating.

jonnie has competed in the WPO and has deadlifted over 800, squatted close to 800, and had a 540 or 570 bench.  that was his best total a few weeks before he won his pro card.

not bad for a bber dieting down.

But Johnnie had a max deadlift suit.  Not that that makes much of a difference in the deadlift, especially if you pull conventional which he does.

Johnnie said his official total is 2170.  Ronnie's is at best 2300, and whether that would pass in contest is up for debate.

Ronnie is NOT vastly ahead of Johnnie in terms of powerlifting.  However, I think Ronnie's muscle endurance is leaps and bounds ahead of Johnnie's.  I highly doubt Johnnie would be able to keep up with Ronnie, exercise after exercise, set after set.

i think i've read where jonnie said something along the lines about how he's not on coleman's level.  something about how they were guest posing somewhere and the gym only had 150 db's and coleman was complaining.  jonnie acted the same, but knew they were enough for him.

plus, he's smaller  than ronnie.

how you figure ronnie would total 2300?

well, some agree, some don't. BTW it's 155 not 135... Messing around with straps for a 1 rep max just slows down the action. Definitely use them for reps

Johnnie can hang close with Ronnie on deadlifts, but not on squats and DEFINETELY not on bench press.

Johnnie's 804 deadlift was performed in front of judges and passed all the necessary requirements.  No straps, all raw (deadlift suit does not help much if any; nothing like a bench shirt or squat suit).  He got the next attempt up, and would have been counted in the gym but not at a meet (probably due to hitching).

Ronnie did 800 for two with straps 5 weeks out from olympia.  Form very questionable per powerlifting standards.

But really, who gives a shit when you look like Coleman?
