Heavy shouder pressing

With all the shit Gaspari was on, would have thought he'd be able to handle something a little heavier than what appears to be 90 pound dumbells.

I agree. He always boasts about how strong he is and how intense his workouts are but getting help from a spotter and resting after sets to pose in the mirror isn't exactly what I'd call high intensity.
He's an arsehole.

What if this sets was done after other exercises?  It could be the last exercise of his training.  When Rich wanted to lift heavier weights he definitly could shoulder press more.

I have to disagree with you there. Drop sets are easy especially when you have help and he really didn't do all that many.

Whats up with fans that look to see how much dumbells or barbells are in a pic while having no idea what set the bodybuilder is on? So now bodybuilders gotta worry everytime they pick up a light barbell. Its not like their job isn't thankless enough being part of the IFBB and being broke.

Yes but Gaspari would have you believe that he worked his shoulders non stop for one hour with one thousand reps and 300 pounds without resting. That video is proof that there is nothing special about him at all.
He's just an arsehole who likes looking at himself in the mirror.

I can't watch youtube at work so I don't know what this is all about.  YOu seem to have a major league hard on for Richie.....what's that all about?  I'm assuming this is precontest and really isn't an indicator of what he did in the offseason....I remember reading he burst a blood vessel in his eye training...that's pretty intense.

Someone told me one time they saw Gasapari carrying his groceries into his house, and he was only carrying two sacks at a time!  He made five trips.  He was an IFBB pro, he shold been able to carry all ten at once, with all the gear he was on!  He is not as hardcore as he said.  LOL.

monster stupid post.

Can you believe there are actual people watching and judging this guy bringing in his groceries? Unbelievable. How many peices of dog shit does he pick up at a time? Does he mow one blade or two blades of grass at a time?

I watched it and I have to say Gaspari looks like a weak little bitch there. He's leaned all the way back and starts struggling on the third rep. I don't care what he did beforehand that's pretty weak for a supposed "animal in the gym". Gaspari is obviously not that strong but who cares, this isn't powerlifting.

And probably resting a minute in between the next series, not 3 or 4 minutes like these guys today.
and keep moving!

With drop sets you are not supposed to rest at all though.
And as previous posts have said, it's not a lot of weight he is pushing when you consider the amount of juice he is on and also his own claim of being an animal in the gym. It really isn't impressive at all.
I'm amazed that there are people who suck up to these guys and believe the crap they come out with.

If it was intense then he'd be lying on the floor puking and not admiring himself in the mirror.
That is one of the easiest workouts I've ever seen.

I guess you guys can't see the sacarsm here.  I obviously made that up to make a joke on how dumb it is that people expect pros to be lifting inhuman weights every time they are photographed.

I've seen pretty well all the pros train on video or DVD and Gaspari was as intense as any of them.  Maybe not as hardcore as he claimed to be, but he was intense and the footage above was pretty intense.  As for strength, maybe delt strength wasn't his thing.  I think he boasted about having strong quads, I don't remember him ever saying his delts were so strong.  Also, regarding the stuff Rich was on, I heard he was on test year round?  How about GH and insulin?  Was that even big in the eighties?

I "think" people used growth hormone back then but I don't "think" it was perfected until the mid 90's.  I remember watching a show and tehy said Alzado was on GH but it was not synthetic like it is today and it was from human cadavers.  I remember reading that you had to spike GH with insulin for it to be effective somewhere in the late 80's probably around 88 or 89.

If he was on GH he didn't show any of the signs we see today...gut distention, skull growth etc.

I went to a Tom Platz seminar around 1988 and he said that all the pros were on Growth Hormone including himself. I recall he said that he felt his nose was growing.
