25 bucks for the weekend...

have they mentioned what kinda quality they predict for it?  The price is comparable with the PPV where you got crystal clear delivery.

i just meant the bitstream.  The Charlotte pro had a rough webcast but the dvd was crystal clear.  IMO if they're charging foe a webcast, hopefully they'll chip in for a few extra sticks of RAM to ensure some clear pictures.  I'll probably buy it.

Given what they've invested in everything thus far I'd say it will be great quality. I'm not sure who is doing the streaming for them. At one point they were talking with a company in Las Vegas that does Webcasting for AOL, Poker Series, etc. I'm confident it won't be 1/2 assed.

Saweet!

I may just have to throw some money down on this.
Going to the Olympia will only get me yelled at in person.

When may we expect a broadcast schedule?
Is this going to be streaming or can I record it on my hard drive for later viewing?

This needs to be a sticky.

That is so Fuking Retarted.  >:(

Pretty soon fans will have to knock on the arena door with a code knock, to get in and watch it...instead of becoming more mainstream, they arent even offering it on PPV? This is upsetting.. :'(

What you mean you mean there's no code?

You can watch if live on your computer or buy the DVD, what's the big deal with no PPV? Same content different avenue to show it.

Maybe he doesn't have a computer.
He could just psychically upload to the board and the length of the Mr. O will give him a headache.

Hopefully it will be ran better than the abortion known as FitModelSearch.  That thing is the biggest joke I've ever seen.  Very unorganized and comes off as nothing but a scam.

Fit Model Search - $150,000 in cash and prizes.

You *have* to be kidding me.

While I can't believe they're putting actual money into something like this, I *really* can't believe they're telling hardcore fans (the only ones attending the Olympia) that they are.

These people just don't get it.

The primary limiting factor is the upload speed of the internet connection at the point of origin.

Despite what you hardcore PPV lovers think, PPV for bodybuilding generates way more cost than benefit.

Webcasting is almost pure profit and near-broadcast quality feeds are possible.

As far as quality of connection goes if they can use the type of infrastructure that bodybuilding.com was able to use for the previous contest webcasts then there shouldn't be a problem.

If they are going to use an established outside contractor and due to the model of pay they will know rough numbers in terms of bandwidth/server quality they need to use anyway.

I don't think I'll be paying............

What is the point of buying a show where the winner has already been determined, before the show even begins?

If it was free, I'd watch it. But charge, no way.

Even when it was free I was embarassed to watch the shows.

Not because of the homosexual implications, more because the production is horrendous and all the "actors/entertainers" are terrible.

Still, assuming he qualifies I might pay to watch kamali get 16th place

Production is an issue.

The only bb.com broadcast I've seen had a single camera feed, which is very simple to set up and execute.  A 2-man crew could run the entire broadcast.  For what Lift is describing, though, the software requirements for the Olympia-cast will be far more complex, as will the manpower demands.

Still, though, the primary limiting factor will be the speed and reliability of the internet connection there at the venue.  When streaming, if the connection drops for even three-tenths of a second, then the connection might have to be re-initiated.  A spotty connection on the day of the show would be disastrous.

The post show in-demand broadcast will have the best quality as it'll come directly from the tape.

yeah, I was going to say something but didn't want to be a negative guy.  If the company does drop the ball and the webcast for $25 ends up sucking, they can have every excuse in the book but it won't matter.  We will all be forced to mail them samples of random bodily fluids.  It's the best way to tell people you're dissatisfied.
