India’s prime minister said Wednesday the country would retain its right to carry out future nuclear tests despite a civilian nuclear deal with the United States, a news report said. “There is no scope for capping of our strategic (nuclear) program. It will be decided by the people, government and Parliament of the country and not by any outside power,” Press Trust of India quoted Prime Minister Manmohan Singh as saying in a statement in Parliament.

While Iran’s refusal to guarantee that it will not proceed with a nuclear weapons program has elicited calls from Bush for tough sanctions against that country, India’s refusal to make a similar guarantee has not elicited a response from the administration.

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, who has called for the destruction of Israel, is undoubtedly a greater immediate security threat to the world than the Indian government. But the U.S.’s contradictory message undermines the argument against the Iranian threat.

honestly, right now i cant really blame iran; think about it, their neighboring nations have been 'invaded' by the US...iraq and afghanistan. pakistan also has nukes. USA talking tough to them, clearly consideres them 'threatening'. if i were them, i would be after nukes for deterrence also, full speed ahead!

also its really isnt fair how we dont care if some nations have them and tell others that they cant.

I won't address some of the other crap on the post but i don't think that the people of Iran would do as Kristol says. This is a ridiculous but popular idea among neocons. The Iraninans have'nt risen yet and won't if prompted by invasion. Perhaps slow steady pressure along with help from the Western Intelligence services...pro western propaganda.....VOA....an d working ith the student groups might help. If they were going to rise it would have been when this new more oppressive government came in. We are having enough problems in Iraq. NO invasion please.  As far as nukes..the difference is that India is the worlds biggest democracy while Iran is ruled by Islamic nutbags.

meh jag..i'm an American and i LOVE the freedom this country has given us..which practically makes it my job to point out its flaws....the education standard needs to go up here..the soccer mums need to stop...and the whole " dont spank your kids" needs be put to rest..segregate the friggin classroom...and  KIDS WILL PAY MORE ATTENTION AND DO BETTER.

{sigh} Yes we do discipline those we love don't we. Maybe it's just me, but I've always found it easier to wake up in the mornng when gently caressed awake, as opposed to a slap in the face in a nerve jangling fashion. ...but that's just me. I agree some methods are more effective for others.

I gotta agree with you there. My sister choose an all girls college run by nuns 
But ya gotta have good teachers. Without that, there is no improvement.
I kinda disagree on the whole spanking thing, ...but then again... I don't have any kids of my own, but I've always been successful with them without having to spank.
