Steroid Crackdown: Boris K of Germany and others arrested.
« on: August 30, 2006, 02:03:00 PM »
Berlin, Germany (AHN) - The crackdown on steroid distribution rings is expanding on a worldwide scale. Ten people were arrested on Tuesday in Germany by German and Polish police for allegedly supplying anabolic steroids and human growth hormone to bodybuilder throughout Europe.

The raid was the most recent action taken by police against suspected dope suppliers. The World Anti-Doping Agency encourages these actions as a compliment to its drug testing programs.

The chairman of the agency, Dick Pound, told the New York Times that police assistance is crucial in stopping steroid distribution.

"There are lots of things that the sports themselves can do, but they have no power to go and seize documents or compel evidence or anything like that, which is why governments have to be involved. The combination of the two is what is going to make this effective."

German investigators said they don't believe any other sport outside of bodybuilding was involved in the ring.

240 officers were involved in the raid. 10 suspects were arrested and 52 building were searched in Germany and Poland. Most of the investigation was centered in Berlin and Hanover.

Investigators have pointed to a German bodybuilder named Boris K as the ring-leader of the operation. They claim he organized the steroid distribution via telephone and the Internet.

The drugs allegedly were smuggled from Thailand and sold to bodybuilders in Germany and elsewhere in Europe at a profit of at least 500 percent, according to German police. No links to doping in other sports was suspected.

He said that some 240 police officers participated in the raids, which also seized cars loaded with anabolic steroids and some 70,000 euros ($90,000) in cash.

Schmidt said that the doping ring had no connection to any sports besides bodybuilding.

Berlin prosecutor Thorsten Cloidt told reporters: "This is a European wide network."

While German police were busy across the border, Polish police arrested Boris K., a German bodybuilder suspected of leading the German-based gang that made, smuggled and sold anabolic steroids, Polish police said in a statement.

The police said a number of Boris K.'s associates were also arrested.

Boris K. had been hiding out in Kielpino, a village near the northern Polish city of Gdansk since other members of his gang were caught smuggling steroids worth 100,000 euros a few months ago, police said.

Boris K. had continued to lead the Germany-based group by phone and email, they said. They said his group promoted steroids on a Web site, which they also used to transfer secret information and codes to each other.

Polish police said they had observed Boris K. for months before getting the go-ahead from German police to arrest him.

Gdansk police spokeswoman Danuta Wolk-Karaczewska said Boris K. was 31 years old. She said he was arrested in a raid on a house in Kielpino at around 0400 GMT this morning. Hundreds of steroid pills and marijuana were found in the raid. (Additional reporting by Malgorzata Rakowiec in Gdansk and Matt Reynolds and Natalia Sitarska in Warsaw)

Boris Kleine, 3-time German heavyweight champion

Web site is http://www.scientific-muscle.de.  Special Scientific Muscle products for you!

Quick facts on Boris!
Age: Born in 1975
Length: 182 cm
Off season weight: About 125 kg
Competition weight: 107-110 Kg
Current residence: Berlin / Germany
Occupation: Gym owner, supplement distributor,
just sales man...
Martial status: Not married, not even a particular girlfriend at this time. (don't know if this aswer is intended for me *smile*)

Listens to: My favourite band is "Böhse Onkelz" but I also like many different kind of heavy metal music like Rammstein and Sheer terror, sometimes Papa Roach or Puddle of Mud. Just everything what makes me aggressive for training.

Motto in life: Die with your boots on...

What do you love in life and in training?

The answer is in the question. The biggest love in my life is my training. I love pushing myself beyond my limits. See how much I can take. Just continue when everybody else bails out and every fiber of your body is in pain and screams for mercy. This gives me a lot satisfaction.

What's your history in sports before bodybuilding?

My father started me training trackīn field when I was 4 years old. Training at least 4 times per week from this age on. I continued this later specialising on decathlon (I was part of the German national team). I did this til an age of 15, then I specialised on pole jumping continued this til an age of 17. Then I started bodybuilding and kept it until today. So training has always been a important part of my life.

Then how did you end up becoming a 3 time German Heavy weight Champion in bodybuilding?

Long story, but anyway when I started bodybuilding at an age of 17, I was sure that I wanted to enter bodybuilding contests, I had always been competing in trackīn field so there was no question. Since I improved very fast I wanted to start in the junior class. This never happened because every year I prepared for competition, some bad shit kicked me out. The first year my thyroid failed working and I had it surgically removed. So I had to stop training for almost 6 months. Next year, I was already in very good shape, I ripped my adductors. Again 3 months of no training. Then I was too old for starting in the junior class. So I decided to put on some more mass to do fine in the senior classes.

After another year of hard training I ripped of the cartilage on the backside of my kneecaps while doing squats with 300 kg. This was so bad that I could hardly walk 500m and it stayed this way! So I thought thatīs it for your contest Boris and reduced my bodyweight to very ripped 95 kg which I felt comfortable with and continued training. I didnīt think of competing anymore. After about a year a friend of mine (a very good doctor) called me and said he had something for me so that I can train harder again. He shot artifical joint liquid into both knees and I got much better (I need theese shots every 3 months forever). But because it was still hurting while training I kept my bodyweight down and didnīt want to compete.

What inspirers you to keep up the good work?

I do not need any special motivation because the training is a part of me. There is never the question for me "hmm...will I train today?" Itīs just like breathing. You simply do so without thinking of it. I canīt go without it!

I know you are a crazy dude with a big smile on your face. Are you always in a happy mood or are you mortal as the rest of us?? =)

Definitly Iīm not always happy. Iīm just happy when I can do my job. Always when I get a little bit moody I go to the gym, have a hardcore leg workout until I drop and puke my soul out on the toilet and afterwards I feel dead, but good again. Thatīs just what I need for "therapy"!!

Can you tell us the craziest thing you've ever done? Hmmm...hard to say, I think I do a lot of things most people would consider crazy which are quite normal for me.

I just live in my own world with my own rules and values and donīt think very much about what other people think about what Iīm doing. I just always live for the moment.

Boris Kleine was used as poster boy for HST, and one of the main guys over at HST, "Blade", was his nutritionist.

Blade is a pretty sharp guy. I'm not into HST but he knows a lot about training.

How much HST and how much the rest? No wonder there is no integrity in bodybuilding. I am not accusing Boris of anything but I wish site owners who are promoting theories for hypertrophy would resist claiming anything about pros who have no idea what is causing their growth past a certain stage.
