Ironically, Kovacs. Shouldn't it be Kovacsism in that case? And Palumboism is a slightly milder case of Kovacsism?

Well, I think its kind of like HIV and AIDS. Palumboism is like HIV and it will eventually lead to Kovacsism (AIDS).

speaking of AIDS, I found this kind of interesting:

The signs of lipodystrophy are a swollen belly along with loss of tissue from the face, arms and legs. The loss of fat from the face can give an appearance of sunken eyes and sticking-out cheekbones. The combination of extra fat around the belly and loss of tissue from the arms and legs can look similar to the effects of very poor nutrition. Lipodystrophy also looks a bit like wasting, which used to be a common problem in people with AIDS. It's very important to know that lipodystrophy and wasting are NOT THE SAME. While lipodystrophy has been linked by some to HIV, it is mainly associated with the use of HAART. Wasting is not linked to HAART, but can be seen with HIV, cancers, other infections, and malnutrition.

Palumboism looks like a form of lipodystrophy. If you ever see someone who is HIV+ and on HAART, they often appear to have Palumboism. But HIV+ people also are often on steroids and Gh as well (often on large dosages from what I've read).

I know there were rumors going around years ago that HIV negative competitive bodybuilders were supposedly experimenting with HAART drugs as way of getting ripped. I don't know if there is a connection there or not - I don't even know if the rumor about bodybuilders using HAART is true or not. I think a couple of the possible side effects of HAART are liver / organ damage and insulin resistance. As we all know, these side effects are certainly possible from longterm, high dose steroid / Gh / Insulin / IGF-1 / etc cocktails as well.
