If you use freeweight, stop training like a pussy and the personal trainer won't bother to strip off 2 plates for his fat female forty client to start squatting 10 lbs.

If you use machines, just bring a water bottle and sit on the machine and wild out. If some one asks you how many you have left, tell them ur not sure...depends on how ur feeling.

bottom line, the trainer, whether he's manager, gym owner or just hired hand should be professional enough to move on and have his client do another exercise without breaking stride.  This is how i always handled it when i was actively training clients, I never let one busy machine keep me from giving a client their money's worth.

this older trainer at my gym is flat out becoming a douche bag..he's interrupted my workouts three times so far in the past few weeks.  Everytime he and his clients want to use a machine I'm on...even when I've stated that I've got a set or two left, the second i walk away to get a drink they jump on it and say "sorry you've gotta wait since we were here first."  WITH MY SHIT SITTING ON THE MACHINE AND ME SAYING I'M NOT DONE I'LL BE RIGHT BACK. I HAVE ONE MORE SET! I asked if they'd like to work in with me since they obviously couldn't wait to use the equipment that I was on and got the same answer. You'll hafta wait i'm training someone right now.

I've held my tongue so far...but i'm not sure how to go about this without losing my membership.

i own a personal training studio, so here is my opinion:

it has happened to me too....i have had a trainers say to me the same shit at the gyms i train at.
first off....have water by your side and continue to to offer him to have his client jump in.
if you want to use a machine that they are on, and he says "sorry" my client is using it....you politely ASK if you can jump in while the client is resting.
if the trainer says no.....just move onto ANOTHER machine

if you're doing barbell squats, benches, deadlifts, overhead presses like you should be you'll never be bothered by these skinny, lazy sacks of shit.

I did the part time training for a couple of years... I had my clients do all the basics, deads, squats, bent over rows, all DB work.  The director of training told members who wanted me that I don't use machines PERIOD.  It was amusing the other trainers always told me I was gonna "hurt" people, lol...if your a good trainer you'll feel peoples limitations as you go.

The trainers that use Bosu Balls crack me up, actually saw a guy having his client do 225 lb smith machine squats while on a Bosu Ball quite amusing...  :)

I'm doing personal training at the moment and if i see some used equipement i just move on to another exercise and try and come back to it if possible or just do a slightly different exercise for a change. When i was studying for my physical educationd degree i encountered some asshole trainers and i vowed to never be like them.

One of my workout partners did this in college. he's not a very big guy, but he wore a ratty ripped shirt, fanny pack, shitkicker boots and a head band with sun glasses and headphones,. He'd use his water and towel to claim a bench (it's a college gym, the benches are the only thing that gets used) and anytime anyone tried to take his bench or other piece of equipment he'd grunt, say "3 more sets" and shoo them away. They either thought he looke dto tough or crazy to deal with, but it worked.

That was without a doubt the weakest shit written on getbig today and largely irrelevent.  Who the hell needs lessons on how to inquire about using a machine thats already being used?

Talk to the gym owner and ask him whether in the members agreement you signed a clause that said dickhead trainers could apprehend any machine you're using.  Then offer him two alternatives, you cancelling your membership or them being clear about what rights you have to the equipment (and making sure it doesn't happen again).

this is so true, if it becomes a problem then you should go see the gym manager and ask for it to stop or ask for your money back.

Oh lol I figured a guy like you would post this here texas! No offense but be a man. Try to control yourself and give him some alternatives. I like MOS' answer! If you can't play the tough man part then just do like danielson does and start rubbing the trainer's arm and squeaze his ass. lol!
just push some weight!

Sounds like a typical 'sand kick in your face'. You know what you gotta do is buy the Charles Atlas course and then confront that trainer!  :D
