....lets talk beer,

At the weekend i was pissed up on Brahma, a rather tasty Brazilian beverage just starting to appear in the UK....

Right now i'm indulging in a cold bottle of Cobra, a fine Indian brew usually quaffed in curry houses but my local shop has just got some in...outstanding.

Anybody else with foreign beer stories?

the only foreign beer i drink is corona, although occasionally guinness. I know there are great beers, but for my drinkin purposes I usually purchase bud or bud lite.

Tiger beer is okay, I also like the Cobra stuff you mentioned. Not tried Brahma though.

Belgian Duvel beer! 8.5%, available in the UK. tastes only slightly stronger than a normal beer and hits you like a sledgehammer when you try and stand up for your first piss after having a few.

Budvar is good... i spent an excellent weekend sloshed in Prague on Budvar, Pivo and Staropramen.....

...Newcastle Brown is also a good drop.

Nah, not a fan of Newcastle Brown - tastes like dirty water. Stuff like Guiness and Murphy's is the same. How people can drink it for pleaseure is beyond me.

Just been reading about that....the review i read said 'a 9% beer that tastes like a 5% beer'.....gonna have to get me one of those for later i think!

Budvar is just a lager. Its an alright lager but pretty dull as beers go.
Leffe is another good Belgian beer, comes in 3 different colors (?) blond, brown and I cant remember the third. Is really good though. Hoegaarden seems popular but for the life of me I dont know why.

Old Peculier from England. I drank Guinness for years but this beats Guinness hands down. It's a easily a 30 dollar beer for 10 bucks.

Would appear so....anyway, i've just been down to tesco's and bought a couple of bottles of Duvel....they're in the fridge now, cant wait to taste an 8.5% beer!

I've just been t'shop for a couple of cans of stella for the football tonight. Remembering this thread I had a quick look for the above mentioned beer, but with no joy.

I've never really paid much attention to what booze they sell as I only buy stella or holstein pils from this particular shop, it seems like they only stock booze according to the taste of the local pissheads.

One whole fridge deidicated to various cheap high strength lagers and special brew, another devoted almost entirely to white lightning cider. It's summat like £3.50 for 3 litres plus on the bottle it say 50% extra so that makes it 4 1/2 litres. You should see the size of the fucking bottle lol

Anyway I'm in town tomorrow so I'll try and get a few bottles of this duvel beer for the football on saturday

Drinking this Duvel stuff right now, verdict:

Not bad.

Paler than most common beers like Bud, Fosters, Stella etc....

....slightly cloudy like a lot of those 'white' beers around at the moment, think Hoegaarden but doesnt taste like that shit.

Unusual taste but still obviously beer...i like it, i think 2 bottles is not enough to form a complete opinion...i'll need to get pissed on it first.

At 8.5% i expected it to taste like shit....other strong lagers i've had like Tennents Super or Carlsberg Special Brew have tasted like paint stripper but this doesnt taste strong at all....

....could be dangerous
